We bought 130 lbs worth last October. The meat is not lean, but we mainly brown the beef, drain, rinse and freeze it to cook with later. It works fine that way.

So I have a weird question for someone that's had this before:
Are there any white stringy like things in the chub?
I ask because: I normally eat ground turkey because I'm not a red meat person, I refuse to eat steak because I just don't like it and with high cholesterol running in my family and being 22 and already having borderline cholesterol even though I eat really well (at least in my opinion, 20 times better than everyone else I see at work)...anyways, I bought a chub of ground turkey at WM over a year ago. When I took it out of the package, there were little white stringy pieces all throughout the meat. I thought it was absolutely disgusting and refused to eat it. I made my fiance bring the meal to work with him for lunch every day until it was gone. This being such a great deal, I was going to think about trying it depending on the fat % and if I can get most of the fat out of it but if it has these stringy things, all bets are off! Does anyone know what the strings are? I thought they were fat but they didn't melt when it was cooked...

Yeah I do that anyways. My doctor keeps telling me not to buy anything less than 93%/7% and to rinse and even then still not eat it often because I keep trying to avoid being on cholesterol meds at 22. My dad has such high cholesterol and never went to the doctor so no one in the family knew until he actually had a stroke in his optic nerve from it being so high so long, so he actually lost one line of vision in that eye. I never want to get to that point so I'll continue going to the doctor and listening to her, even if I have to spend more on my meat. It's just not worth my vision!!! Thanks for the suggestion though, I'll try anything!
