School Promo ~ BTFE: Question about school contests.

I signed up for school BTFE coordinator, but didn't get picked. So I want to "sell" the idea to our coordinator. I am curious about what the schools offer as an incentive for the children to cut and collect so I may give her some ideas.

Our school does a monthly competition between all classes/grades. At the end of each month they total up all the boxtops turned in by each class and the winner gets a special treat provided by the PTO. The boxtops count as ''points'' and they total the points. Neatly trimmed boxtops are worth 2 points each and ones that aren't trimmed neatly or just the whole box flap turned in (yes, that happens, I've seen it!) only count as one point. They will get something like popsicles(sp?) and juices boxes, etc. as a reward. On the month they have the school carnival, usually in the spring, instead of a treat for the class they can redeem their boxtops for carnival tickets for games and goodies at the carnival!

Our cordinator takes and has small prizes that a local store, teachers, and parents donate to give to the kids when they turn in there BTFE. She sends home the printout papers from the website, where you collect 10 BTFE per page. Each month we also have a special party, like a cookie party, ice cream sudaes, cupcake...and with coupons, this stuff is usually cheap or FREE with coupons. Oh and for the prizes they get for turning them in is small stuff like stickers, pencils, etc. I have turned in about 500 BTFEs so far this school year.

This is my last year as BTFE cordinator at my dd school.We have 2 tropys. K-2 grade & 3-5th.grade.The class that collects the most BTFE ( k-2nd.) gets to keep the tropy in there class room till the next collection.(3rd.-5th. grade) is the same.They are simple tropys .Nothing special.It says Box Top Champs on it.The class teachers get a 20.00 gift card to The Teachers Place.They sell school stuff & supplies.
