FAQs for Coordinators General Information (all of this information can be found under the FAQ section within the Coordinators area.) Does my school have to participate?
Being involved with Box Tops for Education is completely voluntary. No school is required to participate in Box Tops or any or all of its three program components. However, only schools that participate and follow the rules of the program are eligible to receive donations from Box Tops for Education.
How much money can my school earn?
Your school can earn a total of up to $60,000 each year. That's a maximum of $20,000 from each of the three Box Tops for Education program components: Clip, Shop and Reading Room. Any Bonus Box Tops your school may earn or win are in addition to these limits.
What can my school do with the money it earns?
Your school can use the money for anything it wants to purchase. Earnings checks from Box Tops are mailed twice each year, on December 15 and April 15. Computers, books, playground equipment and classroom parties are just some of the ways schools have chosen to use the funds raised through Box Tops for Education.
How much money has Box Tops helped schools earn?
Box Tops for Education has donated over $250 million to participating schools since 1996.
How do I track our school earnings?

Your School's Earnings. This will show your school's earnings to date for each component of the Box Tops program. While earnings accrue continually, checks are issued only twice each year on December 15 and April 15. Please note that it can take six to eight weeks for submissions and earnings to be reflected in your account.
Clipping Box Tops Coupons Where can I find Box Tops for Education coupons?
Box Tops are found on hundreds of participating products throughout your grocery store. General Mills, Betty Crocker®, Pillsbury®, Kleenex® and Ziploc® are just a few of the trusted brands you’ll recognize. Although Box Tops coupons appear on most sizes and flavors of participating brands, there are a few exceptions. For the most current information, see the complete list of participating brands.
How much are Box Tops coupons worth?
Each Box Tops coupon is worth 10¢ to your school when you submit them to Box Tops for Education, up to $20,000 per year.
How does my school get paid for the Box Tops coupons I collect?
In order for your school to receive an earnings check that includes a total from clipped Box Tops coupons, you must submit the Box Tops coupons you collect to Box Tops for Education. Package and mail the Box Tops coupons following the submission instructions on the Getting Your Cash page in the Clip part of the Ways to Earn section. You may make as many submissions as you wish during the school year. However, checks will only be issued twice each year, on December 15 and April 15.
How do I track my school's earnings from clipping Box Tops?
Go to the Your School section, where you’ll find your school's earnings to date for each component of the Box Tops program. Please note that it can take six to eight weeks for program earnings to be reflected in your account. For details, see the Your School’s Earnings FAQ.
Can I staple Box Tops to collection sheets?
Please do not use staples to attach Box Tops to collection sheets. You may use staples to bind collection sheets together.
How do I submit collection sheets?
Leave the Box Tops on the collection sheets. Please submit collection sheets in groups of 50 Box Tops (e.g., a stack of 5 10-count collection sheets, a stack of 2 25-count collection sheets).
May I submit ripped or torn Box Tops?
Yes, as long as the expiration date is clear.
Can I turn in expired Box Tops coupons?
We appreciate your inquiry, however, we cannot honor expired Box Tops coupons.
Your School's Earnings How do you calculate my school’s goal?
Your school’s earnings goal may be determined either by you or by Box Tops. Box Tops calculates a goal for your school in one of two ways. If your school's earnings last year were less than $500, your school's goal will be set at $500. If your school’s earnings last year were greater than $500, Box Tops will increase your school's goal by adding 20%. This helps challenge schools to earn more and truly make a difference for students. If you would like to set your own goal, visit the Your School section of the coordinator's website and select Set Your Goal.
How long does it take for earnings to show up on the site?
I’ve submitted Box Tops but my submission isn’t reflected in the total. Earnings are updated on this website on the 15th of every month, but submissions may take up to 6 weeks to be credited to your account. Normally, a submission takes 1 to 3 weeks to be processed, but at busy times, such as just after a submission deadline, it can take 4 to 6 weeks.
For example, if you mail a shipment on Jan 25th, it may not be received and accounted for by our processing center until early February, which means it would be updated online on April 15th.
Although not all of your earnings may be reflected in the totals, reporting once a month ensures a much more accurate picture of your earnings than daily reports.
When will purchases through Box Tops Marketplace show up in our earnings?
Marketplace merchants all have different methods of reporting earnings—daily, weekly, monthly—or some even up to 8 weeks after the purchase. Once received, Marketplace earnings will be updated according to the schedule above.
Are the number of Box Tops and Shoppers under Your School's Earnings just for this year?
The number of Box Tops submitted is just for the current year. The number of Shoppers are cumulative. "Shoppers" indicates the number of people who have designated your school and made at least one purchase through the Box Tops Marketplace.
Why are earnings only shown from August 1999?
When the program originally launched in 1996, it was only intended to be a six month promotion. The program was continually renewed until 1999 when the decision was made to make it an on-going, year-round fundraising program. Unfortunately, earnings records were not kept prior to the start of the program in 1999.

Are the School Rankings for this year updated every month?
Yes. School Rankings are updated monthly on the 15th.
