Do you have this "5 like coupons doubled" in writing somewhere? I've never heard of this being policy and never had it enforced at Peoria Schnucks. I don't often have that many like coupons, but I would think I would have encountered something shopping there the last 2 years. Your experiences?

Surgerynurse, yes - over .50 double to $1.00 ($1.00 is the most you can receive for a doubled coupon).

Thanks Lady Margaret! I am going to be in Peoria this weekend, so I am looking forward to visiting this fine store! I wish more stores had the self check-outs because I hate when the cashier hits that evil button that prevents doubling. Thanks for your help!

I had that happen to me once at the Peoria Schnucks, the cashier manually undoubled my coupons. (To be fair, they were IPs with DND across the top.)
But since this was the first time that'd EVER happened to me, and the register doubled them automatically, I questioned the clerk, the supervisor that came to investigate and finally left the items at the checkout.
I called Schnucks corporate and finally got it from them that my coupons should *not* have been undoubled. Their policy states that they double coupons - it doesn't say "we double coupons, except when we don't" ya know?

I asked corporate to call the store and inform them of their policy and life's been good since. However, I do use the SCO almost exclusively, just to avoid potential hassle. :)

The SCO is the way to go!!!! Even though our Kroger in town is the only grocery store that doubles, I think they look for every chance that they can to undouble something because the daytime ladies LOVE that "undouble" button! It is only the coupon unfriendly cashiers that do it, and just because a coupon says "not subject to doubling" doesn't mean that it can't double, right? That is different than "DO NOT DOUBLE." I don't want to be a rule breaker, but come on!!!!

i checked today on the official coupon policy. the manager on duty stated the store manager has said that they will limit those who are abusing the double coupon policy. for the most part, they double with no limits, BUT the peoria store's policy is no more than 10 like coupons will be doubled. that is from the store manager. she stated this is the way it stands now, but if it is found to be abused, they will limit it further.

so please remember to not abuse this. our local schnucks is probably the nicest store around and all the employees are great, i would hate for them to limit us like kroger does.

and i know i got that 5 limit from somewhere, it might of been in the old threads but i couldnt find it last night anywhere.

Totally agree, Motherofmolly! I have never been in a Schnucks, so I am looking forward to visiting them! I am just excited that I can double more than two like coupons at a time. Thanks for the reminder on the policy! Sometimes I get so frustrated with Krogers, but we have little choice in our small town. I think that I have finally become my in-laws because I now look forward to going out of town and visiting new and different grocery stores.

that is why we love it so much. no hassle. no kroger employee telling you "only two" or 4 or 1 ..or i wont take the ip because it wont scan...schnucks is super nice. be nice to them and they will continue being nice to us!

the only thing at schnucks is you have to look at the sales prices. lots of them are month long and are not part of any sale ad. so you will find some awesome deals just by looking. if i see something, i post it but sometimes i am not looking at everything.

oh and, any kid under 10 gets a free cookie

Ok.....I was at your store tonight, and I am in love!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The store is beautiful! I walked in, and it looks more like a shop than a grocery store. It smelled wonderful too because I think they were baking something yummy. Everyone was nice, helpful, and the cashier made sure every coupon scanned properly. I was elated to see the coupons that I thought may not double did, and the cashier seemed to look to make sure. I was amazed to say the least! It is a completely different culture!!!

As a side note, I told the cashier (an older gentleman) that this was my first time in his store, and he was surprised and asked why I hadn't been there sooner. After I explained that I was from out of town, he understood, but I had to tell him that I had heard such wonderful things about his store. As for my experience, they were all true! When I looked lost, someone offered to help me find something, and of course, I wanted to take the cashier home with me because he was so nice. I am just not used to that. It is a completely different culture. Oh.........it turns out that I bowl with the manager of frozen foods. The cashier mentioned that this manager was from my town, and then I remembered that a fellow bowler worked at Schnucks. Small world! Of course, the cashier and I had to chat about him then too.

It was an all around pleasant experience. Every time I am in Peoria now, I will be visiting that store.
