thanks for the information...I haven't been to my store yet but I will check that out.
Friday night has been pizza night at my house forever. Delivery pizza was getting expensive for a large family. When Save-A-Lot opened in my area, the first store brands I tried were the pizza crust mix, pizza sauce, Sugardale pepperoni & shredded mozzarella.
Price breakdown:
2 pizza crust pouches at .49/pouch - .98
1 jar pizza sauce at .99 - .99
1 8 oz pkg of Sugardale pepperoni - 1.99
2 12 oz pkgs of shredded real mozzarella - 5.98
Total cost $9.94 for 2 generous pizzas.
We use a large round stone, and a rectangular stone, and use a roller to spread the dough. We pre-bake the crust so it cooks then we add the sauce and toppings. We add other topping we might have on hand - fresh peppers and basil from the garden, sometimes pineapple, black olives.
I think our pizzas taste much better than most delivery products, and they are so filling. Dinner is still on the table within 30 minutes.
What are your favorite Save-A-Lot brands?
Debbie

I just tried the Coburn cheese this weekend when I made pizza and I liked it. It's almost as good as kraft. I tried their canned bisquits and they were good. That is about all I have tried in their brands.
I started a Wiki so we can post their brands and our opinions of them.
I really love their:
Sour Cream
Hot Tamales (can) although I can get them much cheaper at SnS now
Mini Ravioli (canned) .74 same as Chef Boyardee to me
Trash Bags (they're trash bags after all, who cares?)
Pimento Spread
Stuffing Mix (box)
Frayleys Choc Cupcakes (better than Hostess! more filling and not nearly as dry)
Chocolate Pudding Pies
Buns
I'll add more as I think of them and try new ones![]()
