QUESTION Save-A-Lot ~ newbie looking to pick brains

    Hello,

I saw someone on a blog post about deals bought at Save a lot, so I googled to see if we have one nearby.

We have a Sav a lot, so I'm assuming this is the same as the Save a lot with an e?

I do have a few questions please. I read over the different posts and faq, but didn't see a lot of information. Everyone here must already know the ins and outs, and I appreciate any and all sharing of info.

Does Sav a lot have a customer loyalty card? I did go sign up on their site for the Smart Shopper program. Can someone give me an overview of what it offers?

Can I use internet coupons here - I noticed the site lets you print them, so I'm assuming this is yes.

When I printed out some of their coupons, some of them printed as manufacturer coupons and some as retailer internet coupons. Does retailer internet coupon just mean store coupon? If that is the case, can you stack a retailer internet coupon with a manufacturer coupon?

I noticed on the roll call post, someone said something about bringing her own bags. Do you bag your own groceries here into your own bags?

Do they mail out weekly flyers or have them posted at the stores?
I noticed on their site they have an area called "check out this month's special buys". Does that mean they also have monthly sales in addition to weekly specials?

If anyone can give some advice about shopping here, I'd really appreciate it. I plan on going mid-week to check out this store and see if I can do some price book price checks on some of their regular prices.

    Thanks in advance everyone,
    Gretchen

They do not have a loyalty card.

That sounds like a store coupon. What is the first number of the coupon? That will tell you if it is a manufacturers or not.

    From the Save-A-Lot site:

Everyone knows that baggers standing around only add to grocery prices, so we've put our foot down and said "no". Our customers are happy to bag their own groceries if it means affording a night out for their family, or entertaining their friends at home. We'll worry about keeping costs low so you can worry about the best ways to use your money.

I receive a weekly ad and an ad that does have monthly specials. My local ad is for a handful of stores in the local area. Each store may be different.

    Thank you Dina,

The "retailer internet coupon" was for Mrs. Smith assorted pie (all varieties, 27oz pkg.) It's for $1/1. The no. on it is: PLU 5217. It states on it: Limit one coupon per item purchased/offer. Does that mean you can only use 1 coupon on it (store coupon) or can you use a manu. and this coupon on one item since they are from different sources?

    Thanks,
    Gretchen

I shop Save A Lot almost every week. It looks like everyone covered all of your questions. :) I've never actually tried to stack a mfr. coupon with a SAL coupon as most of the SAL coupons are for products only they sell. I do receive mailings from them by becoming a member like you did. I think they have a baby club too. I just use my reusable bags that I try to keep in my car. They don't offer a discount for these like other stores do. You bag your own. Boxes always available to take for free. Cheapest bananas around! The ad I post weekly is only for the location near me. They have a big ad for 'everyone' on their site, but I don't like it at all. It rarely changes and most of it is meal deals. Like $5.96 for a pizza feast. They don't itemize the prices for the 'feast.' Rather annoying. Each store has the option to make up their own weekly specials according to the mgr. at my store. All of their prices aren't amazing. You have to know the going rate for things before you go. It's comparable to Aldi's. Hope you like it and take advantage of thier deals. Look for mark downs in the store too. Usually blue and white stickers with the SAL logo on them. Oh, and about the Sav vs. Save...that's a new one for me.
