Re: 5 pound bags of potatoes for .99! Well, I know for a fact that you can make mashed potatoes ahead of time and freeze them (I've even frozen them with sour cream and chives added in) and then nuke for dinner. I would think the possibility of flavored mashed taters would be endless.
Also, if you slice and parboil or parbake, you can dramatically cut down the time it takes to have roasted potatoes or potato wedges (I've read this, but haven't actually tried it yet).
Another option, slice taters into french fries and par-fry (again, I don't actaully have a recipe, but you can find them on the Internet), then freeze. When you are ready for some french fries, you cook them like any other frozen fry.
Just know that if you freeze raw potatoes, they come out "mealy" and gross. |
