K Im new to the whole couponing thing and starting to save money. I went to Save a Lot and got

6 Banquet pot pies 2/$1
3 Boxes generic velveta shells $1 a box
6 LBS Bananas 3 LBS for $1
12 apples 4/ $1

But the girl was training so she rang the apples up wrong so I paid $1 for all the apples they were .25cents for each four. That was pretty sweet. My kids go through fruit and those were awesome prices needless to say I spent $8 and was very happy. I haven't explored the store and all but this lady behind me in line told me that the bag of chicken fingers for the kids she was buying was $3 something and Im thinking GRRRR I pay bout $7 for the same bag at shoprite..... so will be checking out frozen stuff.

I just have to say to the picture below holy hell!!! Is that what you people mean by stockpiling? Man I bought like 8 bottle of pantene lol and was so proud of myself. course that was my first trip out couponing at cvs and starting a stock pile. I think my boyfriend would crap his pants if I came home with that amount of TP That is pretty impressive though!

Sherry3388;1184765] My theory with Save a Lot is to keep an eye on the monthly specials and "specialty items" (items they don't "normally" carry, but carry on a temp. basis periodically).
Save-a-Lot: special buys

Two summers ago, I faired very well when they offered the 4pks of Charmin as a "specialty item" for $1.00.
We got $1.00 off coupons in the PG insert and needless to say, I stocked up!!

(The lrgr. pks are from CVS deals)

I just went to my Save A Lot in Riverview FL. Its newly renovated from an old USave. Overall the store was really clean and the staff was very nice. The only item I walked out with was bananas which were 3lbs for $1. I'm used to paying around .69 lb for them. Nothing else really stood out savings wise. Oh one thing that did stand out was their gray hamburger meat - gross!

I stopped in at a location yesterday and was definitely not impressed with the prices. The store was clean and neat (also small). But, I didn't see much that I couldn't find at comparable or cheaper prices at most other grocery stores. The only things I bought was the 3 lbs/$1.00 bananas and 2 cans of $0.38 biscuits. I thought their one-page flyer was a bit bizarre. Instead of sale prices, it had these groupings of foods that was supposed to feed 4 people for $5.00 or less. I don't know anyone who shops that way. Here's the "Quick Breakfast": For $4.29 or less - Nature's Crunch Granola Raisin Bran and 4 containers of Coburn Farms Lite yogurt. Okay, kind of expensive for other brand items and that price doesn't even include milk. Good luck trying to chug down that dry granola cereal with a bowl of tap water - LOL

you do know that hamburger meat isn't red in its natural state, right? I moved to a farm when I was nine, and I kept throwing out hamburger because I thought it was bad... it didn't have the red dye that I had seen in the store, so I assumed the grey/brown color meant it was rotten...

My friend is a butcher in the Save A Lot. She swears by their meat. I would rather eat theirs than Wal Marts pre packaged meats.
