Fast Gravy for Beef--when no beef drippings/stock/canned beef gravy available
Tonight we were all out of Beef Gravy, & all I had on hand was canned Campbells Chicken Gravy which is bland.
I made a substitute which was quite good.
Mock Beef Gravy for Meatloaf:
1 Can Campbells Chicken Gravy
1/2 C Milk
1 T Worchestershire Sauce
1/2 teaspoon Onion Powder
1/2 teaspoon Pepper
1/2 teaspoon Celery Salt
1/2 teaspoon Thyme( Optional)
Chopped Mushrooms(Optional)
Can also sprinkle "AU JUS" mix powder into the chicken gravy, but omit salt.
Even without mushrooms, this gravy is a nice medium brown color just like a mushroom gravy looks.
It has a bold, peppery flavor that stands up to the beef, & doens't taste like chicken at all.
