Thanks for posting this! I bought two loaves of the Arnold bread - had two $1/1 qs for "Arnold's Natural." I didn't see anything Arnold's "Natural," just the whole grains, etc. at my Safeway. The coupons did work, though. I think the cashier (manager?) had to override one coupon, which I'm guessing is b/c of the BOGO. On my receipt, it looks like I bought one loaf @ $3.39, and 1 @ $0.00. Anyway, I got two loaves for $1.40 - a good deal for me!

Also, there were some 32 oz. pkgs of Safeway brand (I think - Butcher's?) turkey lunch meat in clearanced b/c they say use by 7/30. These were marked down to $1.00. Always look at the clearance sections in the meat dpt!

Do you think the cashier had to override the second coupon because it was store BOGO item?

I have learned that if you get one item free because of a BOGO coupon, you can use a $/x coupon on the second item. How does it work with store BOGO sale? Can you use a coupon on the item that the store gives you for free? Or is this YMMV? TIA!

This came up a few weeks ago, my Safeway told me they just switched to NOT allowing a $/1 coupon for the free item. But some stores and cashiers are allowing it, so I think it's YVVM. I haven't received any official policy from Safeway, and I would believe that it depends, at least in part, on the competition from other stores in your local area.

The beeping, I'm told, is because the register "removes" the free item from it's count, so it beeps as "too many coupons".

So, $6 for 6 smoked sausages and 3 entree salads. I thought it was a decent deal. Though the Entree Salads seem like a rip off. Tiny bit of meat, tiny bit of cheese, croutons, dressing. You have to add the lettuce. Oh well, they were free and I'll use them in DH's lunch.
