$10 catalina with purchase of $75 or more

This was posted on the Safeway Faceboook page today (well, considering it is after midnight, make that yesterday).

Get a $10 catalina with the purchase of $75 or more BEFORE coupons! There are some exclusions like "liquid dairy" aka milk, alcohol, & gift cards. Valid Friday & Saturday only (3/25 - 3/26).

I also confirmed with their Customer Service department that all Safeway & affiliate stores (except Genuardi's) are participating.

I know this is over now, but mine did not print as my total was much less than $75 after coupons. I spoke to the manager because the ad did not specify that it needs to be after coupons. The manager gave me $10 in cash! We have a great manager!

It doesn't have to be $75 after coupons. It has to be $75 after in-ad discounts but before mfg. coupons per safeway policy. hth

My new ad that starts today has another buy $75 get $10 promo that is only good Wed. and Thurs. It stipulates "spend 75 or more in qualified purchases in a single transaction with your Safeway Club Card (calculated after deduction of card savings and all other discounts and savings and not including the excluded purchases below). Now I know that my store is going to say that I have to have $75 after coupons. I think I may go in and speak to the manager and get his take on it before I even try. Hope it's before coupons because I have got some great free coupons that help drive up that total!

Edit: I just read their policy and it does support the before coupons school of thought. I'm going to take a copy of the policy in to my manager for review before I get all excited and start a transaction.

Yes this is featured in the current Ad (3/30 - 4/5) and the catalina is billed as a "Spring Reward Coupon", I guess they figure this was worth continuing!

Personally there's no way I'm spending $75 (after Safeway discounts) to qualify for this. I just got a $10 off $50 for Shop Rite in the mail for each of the next 4 weeks, now there's something I can use!

Well, with our prices up here, it's really not hard for me to get there ($75). I also got a home mailer with a 10% off $75 good through the 8th. They're remodeling our store and it's a "thanks for your patience" type thing. I hope to kind of get a double dip on this.

Okay, so I have done this three times. I have not had the $10 catalina print out once!! I printed out the Safeway coupon policy to take in with me after the first time. It clearly states that the spending threshold is reached before manufacturer coupons are deducted. So I showed it to the assistant manager on duty and she agreed with me that it was before coupons. Went through the line once--didn't print. She gave me cash at the customer service desk. Went back through the line later that day, after she told me to try having the cashier hit the total button before they did my coupons. Still didn't work! She gave me cash again, but we can't figure out why it's not printing. Has this happened for anyone else? My last transaction was awesome by the way. This is what I got:

34 Millstone coffee
3 Frank's Red Hot Sauce
1 Ben & Jerry's
1 Mentos
2 Farmer John Bacon
2 Budweiser (for my husband)

Total oop .84!!
Unfortunately I realized the cashier had taken off 4 Frank's coupons so we I got the $10 back I had her deduct that so the whole transaction was a $5.77 MM!!
