Safeway deals for 09/16/09 - 09/22/09

On the Safeway Ad for this week it says that when you buy 4 boxes of General Mills Cheerios 8.9 oz., Cinnamon Toast Crunch 12.8 oz., Trix 10.7 oz., Honey Grahams 12 oz., Cocoa Puffs 11.8 oz., General Mills Chex Cereal 12.8 - 14.25 oz., Nature Valley Granola Bars 7.2 - 9 oz and Betty Crocker Fruit Snacks 4.5 - 9oz. it will be 4 for $8 with your club card, plus get a coupon for a free box of Capri Sun on your next shopping visit. Also, receive a 100 Points Labels for Education Bonus Point Certificate at checkout with the purchase of any 5 participating Campbell and/or Pepperidge Farm products.

So I went to Safeway and bought for boxes of Nature Valley Granola Bars and got them for 4 for $8, and also bought 3 cans of Campbell's chicken noodle soup and 2 cans of the tomato soup. At the register I did not get the cat for the free box of Capri Sun, and I also did not get the certificate for the bonus points, and when I told the cashiers, they said where does it say that I am supposed to receive all this, and I showed them the Safeway Ad, and they said that they did not know anything about this, and to go to customer service.

I went to customer service and waited for 11 minutes and no one came, so I just left because the ice-cream that I had also bought was melting already.

I'm very frustrated because this is not the first time this Safeway tries to jip me as a customer. I remember reading somewhere that there was a number I could call, but I cannot remember that number. Does anyone know that number, and what should I do if this happens again? I'm learning how to use coupons and trying to get the best deal for my dollar, thanks to HCW, but instances like this are really discouraging.

Call Catalina at 1-888-8COUPON. Just have your receipt and club card number handy.

Honestly, I find that (all) stores know nothing about Catalina promos and what to do if they don't work. Many times there are certain varieties of items that don't make the list. Or your machine wasn't working. Or it was out of paper or jammed. Or, who knows? There are just problems sometimes with Cat deals--unfortunately!

Catalina is usually very good about researching your transaction. I think they need 24 hours before they can pull it up on their computers.

I bought 12 NV nut clusters and got 3 capri sun cats, so the bars should be working too.

I had to call Cat once for a deal that didn't print and they mailed me the cats in about 7-10 days.

Thank you. I called that number and was told to fax copies of the receipts to the company. I did, which cost me over $4 to fax since I do not have a fax machine, and I haven't had a response yet ... so hopefully they contact me either by mail or email. I don't know if I made sense spending $4 to fax the receipt copies plus gas just to get the catalinas I was supposed to get.

I would NOT leave it to them. I would call again.

They made you fax receipts...was that catalina or safeway?? That is ODD. I've NEVER been told to do that by catalina?? Sheesh..sorry you're having such issues! If it was Safeway corporate you called...I wouldn't bother with them and just call catalina. They'll just take the info off your receipt research it give you a ref. number and mail them out to you. Safeway will more than likely lose your info, pretend you never called, or just end up...if you're lucky, forwarding your info to Catalina anyway!

They had me fax my receipt the last time I called. There was no further follow up, I just received the Catalina in the mail a week later.

It was Catalina that requested I fax them copies of the receipts. I called again early last week and was told someone would contact me and so far no one did and nothing came in the mail either and I feel like giving up on this one.:sad:
