Done with safeway

safeway has become true coupon buttheads! Today I went and got (4) powerade used 2 75/2 coupons no problem-but I also had 2 of the free franks redhot-the cashier said no only one per purchase, tried the whole explanation she still didn't get it so I had her take the one off the order and told her I'd get it at Walmart. Next I had 3 boxes of jello and a coupon for $1.25/3 baking items with jello on the front in a big picture, she said she couldn't take it because it had to be kraft and that was jello(DUH) I showed her the picture on the coupon and asked her to read the back of the jello box where it said kraft foods. She still refused it and said she wasn't allowed to override it, didn't ask for assist just said no! SO I told her to take those off too and I'd go over to Giant to get them she told me basically do what you want to. SO as I was fuming I decided to go to customer service where I watched the 2 managers debate over whether or not you can use more than one coupon at a time. They let me purchase the redhot and use the coupon then proceeded the entire nonkraft item routine to which I was amazed that they obviously don't know squat about the products they sell-not to mention I picked the coupon up in the store. They told me they have been having trouble with coupon fraud and that is why they have to be careful. SO still fuming I called 800 safeway and asked if this would be the case everytime I go in and was told to go by customer service that yes from now on coupons need to be checked very carefully and to take all my items with coupons to customer service and have them check them before going to checkout. I told her it would be less trouble to go somewhere else and she said though they value my business they have to be more diligent with coupons. well there goes my business, off to giant I go.

Honestly it is a shame they don't try to educate themselves on the entire coupon system. It kills me that we are keeping ourselves off from foodstamps by using coupons and then they give us a hard time what are they thinking?

Wow, sorry to hear that, I mean sure they want to limit to one like Q per order....fine, but to deny a Q that has a picture of the product you are using it for ON IT.....that's a little more than absurd!! I would shoot an email to Kraft to let them know that the store you visited would not let you use a Q they paid the store to put on the shelf....it was a tearpad Q right?....anyway, I'm sure they will let them know it is valid...maybe they'll even send you a few easier to use Q's for all the trouble!
