Use a Living Well Catalina Question

I’m fairly new to couponing and this is my first Safeway Catalina promotion. I have a question about using the coupon. Last night I had a MQ coupon for every item I bought and used my 1st earned $10 coupon and it beeped. They were really busy and the cashier just gave me $10 off my total. Today I used the 2nd one and had MQ coupons for all but one item and everything went through fine. This leads me to believe that for each transaction when I use the Catalina I need to buy at least one thing without a coupon, is that correct?
I know at Walgreens when you pay with a Catalina it’s used as a coupon so you either can’t use another MQ or need a filler item. Is that’s true for promos like these?

Not for me. Could be why mine "beep" most times. lol I almost always have a coupon for every item I'm buying in these promos. As long as your total after all coupons (except the $10) isn't below $10 (it says "no cash back"), I don't see that there should be any hassle using it. It's not tied to any specific item. If it's less hassle to throw in a .50 cent pack of gum so it won't beep, then it's whatever blows your skirt up. lol

lol, guess I can always plead ignorance if they give me any problem. So far any problem I've had with them always works out with no questions asked and cash back in my pocket. Just wondering if that's why I got beeped.

If you'll look on the top it says manufacturer's coupon so it works the same as Walgreens. If you have a customer friendly store they will usually override it. I generally have milk, eggs or veggies on my list so I just put 1 item with each tx. hth
