Does Safeway have a policy on the number of like coupons?

I almost never have more than 4 like coupons and usually use only 1 or 2. But I have a bunch I would like to use like 11. I may just break it up but it would be great to use all a once.

I was using 12 Bertolli coupons in a transaction for LWFG with no problems. Beware the dreaded cashier that doesn't know how to translate coupon wording. :) They might try to tell you that "one per purchase" means one per transaction.

On a side note, I called Safeway's 800 number a few days ago and the woman on the phone was nice enough to read the coupon policy to me. It didn't say anything about limits and it did say that one coupon PER ITEM could be redeemed. Nothing about a transaction limit.

Mine just started mentioning they will only double one of the same coupon per transaction if I have multiples, but since they only double 4 coupons anyway it isn't usually a big deal.

I was told that I could only use one IP per transaction per purchase of a product. I had two printed out cranenergy coupons and wanted to buy two bottles, but the cashier only let me use one saying I can only use one for each product if it's an IP. Has anyone ran into this? I'm starting to think maybe she also got confused on the wording.

Yes, I think she was confused. I have used several IPs for the same product (obviously one coupon per item) in a single transaction. Just yesterday as a matter of fact. I had no problems!

I couldn't figure out why my calculations never quite worked out the way I had pre-planned. Then, I realized that when I have many copies of the same coupon, the store only doubles the first coupon. For instance: a $.25 coupon will double to $.50 for the first item only. Every other identical item/coupon will only give me $.25 off. So, if you have a patient cashier and lots of time, you could do a bunch of separate transactions to get all your coupons doubled. Hope that helps someone! Wish I had known sooner, I've been couponing since Jan. 1 and just figured this out. :-)

My Safeway will only let me use one IP. After a huge hassle and holding up the line because they also didn't want to let me use more than one Electrasol coupon, I couldn't be bothered to argue. :(

I guess it depends on the store. My Safeway clerks seem to have a contest going between myself and a friend who shops on Monday nights. When I go in they will say "Your friend did this deal x times and only spent $xx. Are you going to beat her this time?" I've only beat her once according to them. They haven't limited me on coupons so far and I have used as many as 20 of the same in 1 transaction. I'm always sending corporate lots of kudos on this store's clerks.

I think it varies from store to store, and I think it's reasonable for them to loosen up a bit with a $30 promotion going on. I sometimes run into more than 4 requires an override, and when I get rung up by a mgr type they can presumably do their own overrides and it can actually work out better.
