Default Re: Any problem with the Living Well Promotion

I used some of my bertolli cats last nite to do the pledge deal again, and the rang up as manufacturers coupons (or at least on my receipt they showed up the same as the pledge manufacturers coupons did)

I have put in a call to Catalina and they are supposed to call me back as soon as my transaction is posted.
They're manufacturer. I've used Bertolli ones to pay on the next transaction and the LW prints fine. I also used MF catalina coupons that I'd gottne from the store before. Most cats are MF. Very few actually SAY store coupon on them. I've gotten a few from Fred Meyer, but can't recall getting one from Safeway.

Not that I know of. At my store, those don't affect my totals on whatever promo I'm doing. May not be true at other stores, though. But seeing as you have to buy $50 worth of stuff to use it, then I'm assuming you'll go for $60 (two $30 transactions) in one. I don't think you'd have to buy $65 to make it work, but I know some stores may be difficult. Kind of defeats the purpose too.

I'm having problems with this deal for two reasons. Right now I have a 10% discount on my card (long story). So, the 10% comes off of the total and takes me under $30.00. I screwed up one deal because I planned for the 10% but waited to put some B&J ice cream in the cart until last....I was doing 2 transactions at once which is my other problem...and I forgot the ice cream because I'm stressed out over this and was in the store so long I was tired... and ended up being .63 cents short of the $30. (I was over with tax...but that doesn't count of course.) The second reason is that I was trying to do a transaction WITHOUT any of the LW items to use the Cat. On another deal I tried with the LW I used the Cat and it took me under $30.00 even though I had other items. So...I'm trying to use the Cat on other things, not roll it over into the next deal. I feel like I need a physics degree to do this!

Seriously...is there a therapy site on HCW! I got so upset when I missed the deal by .63 cents I really beat myself up! I returned one of the expensive items on that order which is in the deal (Pepcid..which I now NEED!) and re-bought it to help with the next deal.

I always want to do as well as I see others doing and I just am getting so frustrated! I did the Chill at Home deal until our freezer was stuffed (we are retired and on a fixed income and I thought great!) Freezer door didn't shut all the way, didn't catch it for 4 days and lost a lot of food! AHHHHH! I must say my Manager is so great...he replaced all Safeway frozen veggies that half melted on my word alone! (Who would think Alexia fries that felt cold and firm still need to be tossed per the company!)

Well.....I guess from reading this thread the Cat must be a "Safeway coupon". It comes off first.

Thanks for listening....is there re-hab for couponers???? Betty Ford wing??

The 10% doesn't matter. I have it too and that discount is applied AFTER--so you'd still get the $10 cat.

My last 2 deals my total after rolling cats and mfg. c/o's was $10.xx and $5.xx oop and I received my next $10 cat for each tx. So the $10 cats and mfg. c/o's don't affect the total. I always calculate on sale price of my items and use a little notebook to write it in. I don't use just a calc. anymore because I forget what I entered, if I entered, what the prices were if I have to start over, etc. This has saved me so much time and confusion when having to stop and recalculate my orders. Now I can just look at my last total noted and count items in cart and notepad to make sure I wrote it down. It only took the 2 of us 2 hours to peruse the store and check out with 2 deals each where it use to be, sometimes, as much as 4 hours. It also helped on checkout as we unloaded our cart per written deal instead of trying to remember the items or keep them separate in the cart. Wish I would have thought of this way back when they first started these promos.

My Catalina did not print off. I think it is because my hubby handed the clerk the manufacturer's coupons before he had them swipe his Safeway card. Customer service was great about giving me a Catalina though when I brought my receipt up to them.

I had an (I think) unusual problem. I bought $31.27 of items, one of which was Claritin, reg price $11.49, on sale for $9.99. The cat didn't print. Customer Service agreed I should have gotten it, but they didn't offer to give me anything for it. I needed the items I bought so I just left.

I called Catalina and they said the Claritin was showing up on the receipt for $8.50!! After going back and forth with her, she said she would mail me the cat (although I realize that she didn't give me a reference number). I was very appreciative, but I still wonder what happened? How can I have a receipt saying I paid one thing, and the system says I paid another? How is a consumer supposed to avoid this?
