Re: Safeway NW - Living Well, Feeling Great promo 4-15 thru 5-5 Ok, I have a funny story to tell. While doing the promo I found the boxed refrigerated Pillsbury Easter cookies on sale $1.99 with 3-4 of the safeway discount stickers on them totalling $1. There were 20 boxes and since they can be frozen I decided why not. With coupons they would be $.59 each. Well while I was checking out I noticed that there were about 5-6 catalinas hanging off the machine. The clerk got so messed up ringing the cookies and stickers that when he went to enter my coupons the last 3 wouldn't take. I knew I had the right # of coupons so he forced them through. He had problems with the register tape in the beginning, it kept jamming so he ripped off a bunch and threw it next to the cat machine. When we were all done with that order he started to grab the cats and the discarded tape and wad them up. I said "I want those" and he pulled out 1 or 2. I said I want all of them and he gave me a funny look and said ok but it's just junk advertising (it was $$ off product coupons not advertising). So when my cats started printing out after I paid he said you want these too? Yeah! It was my $10 LW and Bertolli cats. He was a really odd fellow, whenever I would say something to him like you entered the sticker discount but didn't scan the cookies or you scanned the box of cookies twice but didn't enter all the discounts he'd say well I know that in a surprised voice and would laugh and smile. Then he would do whatever I had commented on like entering the discount but not scan the cookies until I pointed that out. Then he'd do that. So we went back and forth every couple of boxes. Well when I got out to my car I looked at the receipt to see if everything was there. He only rang up 15 boxes of cookies instead of 20 but entered the discount stickers for 22 boxes (as best as I could determine) which is why it wouldn't take all my coupons. All in all, it took him about 20 minutes to check me out but I didn't complain as it paid off well. I think my total in the end was about $12 less than it should have been. |
