Safeway No. Cal.-KC$5 OYNO did *not* work today

Hey Everyone,

I went to Safeway today to work some deals, particularly the Kimberly Clark deal advertised in today's paper, buy $25 of participating products, get $5 OYNO. So, I purchased two Cottonelle 12 pack double rolls for $9.99 each, one Cottonelle Kids wipes for $4.99, and one regular Cottonelle wipes for $2.99.

The store was a disaster, the front end manager who was checking me out said to me"I just want to get the he** out of here"-Yikes! So, I complete my transaction, a bunch of Cats spit out, the machine jams, and no $5 cat. I go to CS, which is being staffed by a teenage girl, who looks at me blankly while I try to explain the deal to her, and says "Well, if you qualified for the deal, it would have printed out" No, I say, I've had cats not print before. So I asked her to call the mgr. She gets an asst. mgr who has absolutely no knowledge of the deal either. I ask if they have a Sunday paper so I could show them-he replies "No-we don't just keep papers lying around the store-they're in the machines outside" (where I'm from, which is the land of civilization, Safeway sells papers *inside* the store. But I digress) So he tells me the same thing-if I should have qualified for the deal, it *would* have printed out. That's it, I say, I'm calling corporate in the morning and reporting this disaster. He rolls his eyes and walks away!!!

Safeway used to pride itself on its customer service. That was its primary competitive advantage. In my opinion, it's gone down the tubes. So if you go to work this deal, bring the flyer from the Sunday paper with you, because Safeway has no clue about this deal.

It didn't work for me in WA state either. I didn't feel like waiting at customer service, explaining, and then possibly being shot down since I used manufacturer coupons (which of course should not have impacted the deal). I'm gonna call catalina tomorrow to get it straightened out.

I bought 1 huggies box and 1 wipes On Sunday and no cat either and the store was completely sold out of newspapers + no signage so I couldn't show them the Smart Source ad. Went to my closer store yesterday because I was also overcharged $4 on the diapers vs. ad. She gave me the refund but told me I had to go to the original store for the Cat.

Just curious which one you shop at? I went on Sunday to the Stanford Ranch location and no cat. I was already paying at CS since I had returned a little pack of TP I just bought for the big Cottonelle ones. She wouldn't refund the money but rather made me go back through to her and exchange. Wierd.

I explained the deal and she just gave me a $5 gift card. The manager there is great- I had to go back to CS last week when the cashier refused to let me do the Kraft deal and he fixed the problem in about 10 seconds. He told the CS person to give me the gift card too- problem solved in 10 seconds.

WOW, I read your posts all the time so funny you are right in my neigborhood. I shop primarily at Woodcreek Oaks Blvd. I was at Stanford Ranch when I didn't get the Cat but since they had no ad for me to reference and were so busy I thought it would be easier to just pop into the Woodcreek store - I can't believe they are giving me the "you need to go back to the first store" runaround. Perhaps I'll make Stanford my new store and use it as motivation to hit the gym (Cal Fit) first.
