Default My Great Deal Tonight

My mom and I went to Safeway tonight to get some of the $1.59 ground beef. I had purchased 18 boxes of Hamburger Helper at Albertsons on the 10/$10 deal using a $.75/3 c/o during their doubles/triples promo and most of the boxes had a c/o for $1 off ground beef. I had 14 c/o's to use. Well when I got back to the meat dept. they didn't have any hamburger where the sign was so we asked a clerk for help. She said she would let us have any of the safeway hamburger for the sale price she just had to relabel it with the $1.59 price. I asked her to repackage it in 1lb. packages. So when we checked out I guess she had labeled it wrong and the cash register deducted the card saver discount from the $1.59 price. I didn't realize it til I got home and was showing hubby my receipt. So I got 14+lbs. of meat for free plus $1.84 overage. Also when you walk in the front door there is a display with a tear pad for $1.99 6pk. of 24 oz. pepsi products. This would equate to about $.50 per 2 ltrs. I bought 2 gals. milk, 1 coffeemate creamer, 2 6 pks. pepsi and 14+ lbs. hamburger for $8.49. They have the gingerbread creamer clearanced at $1.49 for the small bottles and I had a $.50 c/o which they double. I am debating on whether I should go back and explain the mistake on the meat and pay the difference but I wouldn't want to get that sweet clerk in trouble. What do you guys think I should do?

I would not say anything. I have been on both sides of that one and the store treats you like you did something wrong if you go back, like you stole it. The store will write it off if they even catch it, which if it scanned through they won't. The only one that MIGHT even hear about it would be the meat clerk, but I doubt it. I live in Blaine Washington and they mark down there meat all the time at my local store. I would just let it go maybe pay a little forward somewhere to make the karma all good.

Now I would go back if I noticed they forgot to ring up the case of water on the bottom of my cart, but for that, no. The clerk might get in trouble, and I agree with cearhart...do something nice for someone else!
