I was at my local Von's yesterday and the cashier scrutinized every internet q. Then she checked the price of each item and manually entered them in the register so they would not double. The were DND, but I had never had any problem before. It was an express line and it started backing up badly. She didn't care. She acted very cold and rude and like I was causing her extra work. I wonder if this is going to be Von's response to Ralph's ending double Q's? I made a note of her name and will make sure I do not get her next time and see if all the cashiers are doing the same.

Yes it is applied to the tostitos chips and salsa.

I went and did my plan,the cashier tried to tell me that if I received the 10% I could not use a Q. This store in Bristow is awful! I'm calling corprate. That was the first of many Q's she tried to reject. :shrug2: Finally after the third Q I asked her to call the MGR. He came over and said if the Q "beeps" the system is telling them that I have not met the specifications of the Q. Well, SOMETIMES, this is true I replied. However, in this particular case, Q for free item, the system was telling the dumb cashier to enter the price for the free item! I said I could not believe that as the customer I have to stand there and explain this to HIM!

Again I spoke with the store manager, he just stands there and looks at me, no apology, no we will look into or anything. I tell him it is a training issue. They really should know how the Q's work. Next I say I'm tired of them making me feel like a criminal. He says, I thought you said it was a training issue!!!! So at this point I feel this is going no where and end this conversation, and walk out flustered.

Went to one Safeway store to coupon hunt found nothing noticeable but they have goldfish 10 for $10. We happened to have one buy3get chocolate chunck cookie free q (expiring on 6/30) with us and we got 3 bags of cracker and 1 bag of cookie for $2.93. BTW, the receipt says, you will receive 5% off your eligible purchases now through 7/29/08. I like that.

I feel your frustration... and in fact have been there. I must say, great for pointing out what the beep meant... but honestly, when you said a "training issue" (though correct) he took offense. If you have a different SW you can go to, or pick a time to shop with a different crew, do it. The one thing that drives me nuts about safeway and their "coupon policy" is that it changes at whim... depends on who is cashiering, who is manager... and it is so hard to play by any rules. If they would just adopt an across the board coupon policy at the corporate level and then train down the line, it would be so nice. But that's not how it works... so... I find a good manager and a few favorite cashiers and try to stick with them.

On a side note, one of our three SWs recently got the self scan machines, and WOO HOO! It is so easy... if the coupon doesn't go through, i just call over the lady who is manning the area, and she deals with it. Since I started trying that, I've not had a Single coupon shot down. I LOVE IT!
