HELP Is this a good idea for a trade? Give me your thoughts!

Need you coupon king and queens thoughts. I don't need a ton of coupons from the inserts. When I do, I know I can trade for them on here.

Okay. So I was thinking. I will update my havelist with everything I have, including inserts, non inserts, and stuff I get in trains. Besides the coupons that go to people in trains and those people I know can use, I thought about making a huge list.

I would post that I will trade X amount of coupons per ONE coupon on my have list. For example, 5 coupons on my havelist per 1 q from my wishlist.

What do ya'll think? I feel like I'm being stingy hanging on to all these little pieces of paper I can't use, and I thought it might encourage more trades for stuff we need.

What do you think? I mean, hanging on to them when someone else can use them seems kind of stupid. Even trading the "hot coupons". I really don't need to hang onto these. I do give whatever is left over to a gal who mails to military.

Give me your thoughts!

I'm a little confused about the question? Is your goal to get more trades going? or to get rid of stuff you don't need?

I don't have the time or inclination to update my have list very often - I just check through the wants lists and if I have something that is needed - then I offer a trade. Sometimes I just rely on coupon karma - meaning if I just ask for a stamp to cover what I send - other people will send to me when I just need a few.

I have also found that codes (coke, pampers, huggies, kelloggs, poptart) are a great currency for getting what I need.

if you are wanting more trades, just so that stuff doesn't go to waste - complete your have list and then advertise by saying no reasonable offer refused or trades do not have to be equal!

I think it is a good idea. Whatever works for you and the trader is all that matters.

I think the 5 for 1 is a great way for you to move those coupons to those in need and you still get what you really want.

I have a list of 4 people locally that I shuffle my excess coupons to so I don't run into the problem as often, always have those in need locally.

But if it works for you to get one coupon you really want and you send 5 of what they want, then I'd say you've hit on a plan that works for you and will certainly make others happy too!

Well trading for one coupon may only pay for the stamp that you use to mail them their envie so you will not be getting much in return or could even end up in the hole.

I would just do a RAOK and give them away to one or two people if I knew they were not going to be used if I could not find some that had coupons I need that needed the ones I have. Because 5 to 1 is not a good trade since you are asking us.

Great advice. I didn't think of that she could be out of the shipping. You are right on, thank you for posting this.

Thanks for advice! I would say to do the 5 to 1 trade it would have to be worth the shipping. So just one coupon really wouldn't be worth a trade. Good advice! I think the 5 to 1 is good if the coupon value exceeds the shipping. Agree?

If shipping is a concern cost wise, you could always say the trade is 5:1 and each pays their own shipping if the coupon you are getting is worth it.

Or, do a 10:1 trade and they send a stamp with the coupon to you, thus covering your shipping their coupons to you That's still a good deal if the coupons you're offering are what they want and need.

it would not be a good trade to me for the one coupon the other peron has to trade may only be for .35 or 50 cents so with the cost of the stamp and the envie she would not be gaining anything from this trade.

She could do 5 or up to 10 coupons from her have list for at least $3 in coupons from her wishlist that way she would not be in the whole and have some personal gain aslo.
