Well I hope so...cuz otherwise I misread something I just read some more on it and yes it's free to transfer money on a premier account:

"It's free within the U.S. to send money to family and friends when you use your PayPal balance or bank account and you send the money through the PayPal website."

What I'm not getting is how does someone send me money? I know it pops into my PP account but how? I mean if someone needs to pay me what do I give them so it can pop into my account?

And if I need to pay someone but have $0.00 in my PP account will it just automatically come out of my bank account? And if it does just come out of my bank account then why would I ever need to transfer money into my PP account?

Hi

If you need to send money, you will need the other persons email address that is associated with their pp account, that's how the money comes out of your paypal and into theirs.

If you have your checking acct linked to your paypal, then yes if your acct balance is zero, the $ will transfer directly from your checking account. You usually have to also have a back up source of a credit card in case there is not enough $ in your checking acct.

Just note though that this is different than an e-check. When people say "available funds" they mean the $ is coming out through your paypal account and not an e-check payment or a credit card payment.

As long as you linked your checking account you should be fine. Did i totally confuse you?

Not only is Paypal easy to sign up for but free. They also charge a very small amount to use their services. You can also use your debit card number to link PP to your account. I also have a PP card that I can use when out shopping as long as there is money in the account. When I make a transaction through them, I leave the money in my account if I don't want to transfer it.
I like PP because it affords protection on private party purchase since the transaction is cleared through them before coming to me. I've been doing business using PP since it's beginning and have never had a problem.
PP is owned by Ebay and is linked through the backdoor of Ebay. Hope I'm not confusing you...thought the more info the better.

Default Re: Can someone explain PayPal?

I have an ebay paypal acct and I use my mom's personal acct for here.

If I send $ to somene here as a gift from my (ebay PP) acct it goes thru no fee for me or them
If I collect $ into my ebay acct I believe it charges me a fee no matter what (I tried to send someone coupons for just the postage last yr using my (ebay pp) acct and it hit me w/ fees so I only got like .12 or something.... that was the first and ;ast time I tried using my (ebay pp) acct for trading qs.

hope that helps...

I have a question about the checking acct $ transfer too...
I just tried transferring $20 from my checking to my PP acct and it says it will take like 3 days. I thought it was instant? if I pay someone that way (0 balance come from checking instead) isnt it instant? (I just wanted the $ from my checking into my PP to send to my moms acct so I could get some qs.... now I have to wait...) :(

wow, this is a late response. But yes, it will come from your checking account, IF and only if it's set as the "backup source of funding"... make sure that it is. Whenever you make payments that aren't covered by PayPal it'll pull the funds from your checking account or whatever you added as the backup.
