why do trades on HCW go thru PM and not e-mails?

You keep posting that it is just "interesting fact" and "curious why"...but you really do seem annoyed by the PM thing.

You also keep repeating that it is quicker via email. Thats a difference of opinion. As pp have noted, most feel PM is quicker than email. Its a personal preference.
As for me, if I have my email open, I have HCW open. When I get online, I check ALL my stuff (boards/emails/accts/etc) - so its no added effort to go to HCW. I trade at work, and I keep HCW minimized on my computer so if I get an email notification of a PM, I'm right there.

Also like others have mentioned - I prefer to have PMs to keep each trade board seperate. Some ppl only trade on 1 board, so they don't bother to note which board its from. If you trade alot, thats alot of work to track down which board when its time to leave fb. - much more work than PM vs email in my opinion. Now I can just go into my PM from the trader, click their name and go straight to their fb. If it was through email, I would have to figure out which board, search thru the fb's for theirs etc.

Also as pp have noted, for most its not a privacy issue, you can easily go to their user panel to get their email if thats the way you wish to trade. PPl don't like to actually post it in the threads becasue we do get spammers on here and they have software that "fishes" all the posts for emails and spams them.

It isn't just HCW. I belong to another trading board and used to belong to a 3rd as well. BOTH of those other 2 wre the same, trading via PM not email.

I rarely traded by PM before joining HCW. Here almost all trades are PM.

Which is fine, a different culture.

I'm ok with the way the other trader wants to do things, when I am seeking coupons.

I don't care either way. I've done both and don't see a faster way. I do think pm's help keep trades organized.

But you don't have to wait for he little box to open up. You can even turn that option off *i think*. Just click 'notification's' and it opens up like an email would. I think you are adding in too many steps. If you get a notification, don't click the link. Just come to the website, click notification and read away, one after the other. I rarely click through a link or the little box.

well i am the exact opposite of you I guess because my PM box is usually open when I'm online but my email rarely is. so if you were to email me you wouldn't get me as quickly as you would by PM.

everyone has their preference of how to trade in all different types of things, so yours is by email, great! put that in your post. if people want to email you they will.

I love trading by pm's. It is so much easier for me. I wouldn't want it any other way. I hardly ever use my email so you might not ever get a response, lol.

I live on HCW practically all day, so I prefer to use PM. I do check my email daily, but its once a day, first thing in the morning, so if someone were to email me, I wouldn't see it til the following day. Most of the time I can get a PM trade done in under 5 minutes if the other person is also online and we both have what the other requests, usually no more than 3 pm's total.
There are a few members who do request emails, and I have done several repeat trades with one over the past year.
