why do trades on HCW go thru PM and not e-mails?

Trades by e-mail do not require an open browser like Internet Explorer. All you need open is your Yahoo or Outlook Express or whatever. And nothing more.

There are more lurkers than not, on ALL boards, so I doubt any members from other sites will jump in and defend e-mails. I've seen threads with several hundred "views" but very few people joining in. Alot of people come here or there, to find deals and never post any threads, and some do not post their deals, they keep them private. Come to get help and deals and stay anonymous. So, I expect no one to endorse the use of e-mails. Clearly the easiest way if you want to trade while at work.

I've traded at other sites using email, can't say it is any faster...I prefer PMs. I also like being able to find the user to leave FB through my PMs once the trade is complete.

I trade on another board thru emails and to me it faster than opening up pm.
But I go with the flow on want ever board I am trading on at that time

If people want to email instead of using PM's, they can. You just have to go to the leave feedback page of someone's profile and there is an option for that. Provided they have their options set to receive email. And yes, it does show their email address in the message they send. So no one needs to post it anywhere on the board.

I don't care if people know my email address. You know how many traders on this board know my full name and street address? What does it matter if they know my email addy too?

I just don't prefer to trade via email. But I have done it when that's what the other person requested in a trade post. I don't see the point of limiting yourself to trades done only in a preferred way.

For discreet communication with another member....such as gossip or to say things they wouldn't dare post on the board. That is what PM's there are used for. Another way they are used is to inform 'friends' of a bad trader without going public with it. Trades are done by e-mail, PM is for "confidential" discussions. No one will agree from this site, so I'm fine with that. If you have used PM's for dozens or more trades and never use e-mail then you are used to PM. I've even put my e-mail in HCW trade listings and asked them to respond by e-mail and no one will. Some fear factor. facts: You can not send me paypal without my e-mail addres. I can not send you paypal without your e-mail address. I used e-mails only, for trades, for several years. Those here have always used PM. It's a very different culture of habits.

My email box is already littered. The messages would get lost, and I'd have lost trades because of it.

Additionally, I think if you're not happy here, you could probably keep using your preferred site/way of trading without a problem, right? So what's the big deal? I am here because I like it. If you don't, I don't think anyone is doing any arm twisting.

If I want the coupons I have to trade the way the other trader wants. They dictate the method, if they are worried to use e-mail.

I prefer trading through PMs. I'm not worried about giving my email address out. I just like keeping things separate.

Trading through PMs allows me to keep all of my trade info in one place. Not mixed up with emails from my kids, bank statements, or any other emails I might have in my inbox.

Okay, gossip I totally agree with. I'm on board with that, lol. And I don't think there is anything too taboo to post around here either. We've pretty much run the gamut.

Informing friends of a bad trader without going public is wrong though. If there is a bad trader on the board, mods need to be notified so that if necessary, the board can be notified.

I'm confused as to why you are so upset more people don't trade via email.

And as far as doing it via PM to keep track of what board you are on...I don't have time for other boards, nor have I found any where I like the format enough to bother.

1. for me, e-mail is the quickest way for me to complete a trade when I need coupons for a sale, etc. or want to get the other trader's coupons in the mail today.

2. interesting that close to 100% of trade threads on other board(s) have an e-mail address, and on HCW it is close to ZERO %.
