Newbie w/ a ? about pphf and trading

So I couponed years ago but only traded with people in my neighborhood/apartment complex or that I met online through local websites, never online until recently. On other boards I see people put up their list and put their handling fee on their coupons. How do you know how much to set your handling fee at? I have NO clue, please help a newbie out!! Moving this to the trades area so you can get more responses. But on average, you would trade 10% of the face value of the coupons in paypal or any other form of money. If they are really hot coupons or frees, you may be able to ask for a little more. Sometimes you just say hey I'll take X amount of dollars for these X amount of coupons and that's it. But 10% is what we use as a guide in fair trading.

Hi, I'm sure you already know some of this and if you already know this stuff, it may help someone else who is new.
coupons technically cannot be bought or sold. soooo.... people charge a handling fee for cutting, sorting, mailing etc. As tacatcon says... 10 percent is a good price to use one good average q's... the hot ones I have seen go as high as 35%, but that is not common. another factor is the pp fees... a good share of paypal acct holders can receive payment with existing funds as a gift and not be charged a fee... we have a premiere account and are charged a .30 transaction fee plus a small percentage... sooo... we have to take a little bit of a beating or pass it on to the buyer.
to cut and sell low value q's is a bust as far as making a profit, but the small advantage to that is that we use the monies received to purchase the q's we need and in a mental way it then seems worth it.
One of the best ways to determine the value of coupons you want to acquire or are going to sell is to search the coupon on ebay or the clipping sites. It gives you a sense of the true value when making a deal.
Another point to consider is the value of the coupon to you... i am not doing the baby thing anymore so the beechnut q's are nowhere worth to me what they are to someone with little ones... but boy oh boy, if I could get coupons on fishing tackle... they would be gold to me...

Thanks so much for the info! It all really helps a newbie such as myself to know these things. I don't have many good coupons but want to begin trading immediately and need to know just in case someone wants to send a paypal handling fee as opposed to trade for trade in coupons. I also have a premier account and get charged fees for it so I never thought about how I'll need to take that in to account. Thanks!!

I think that I omitted some very important information...

that is what drives coupons prices up from 10%

there are several driving factors at to what may drive a coupon up in price and it may be a single one of these or a combination...

supply and demand is of course the biggest factor in my opinion

a lot of times there is a great coupon that is issued only in one part of the country or comes from a limited source...
combine that with a upcoming great sale and you have a super hot coupon.

I have seen a coupon that one week is super hot to use at a kroger event and makes it free or so super cheap.... and the next week the coupon is cold as dirt and loses it's value. sooo... if you have a hot coupon, and you know it won't last... trade it quick for what you can. (but beware of one thing... I have traded a q one week and wished i could have it back the next...)

Another high priced coupon are the ones that get you actuals... or frees... because you are getting the actual item and not just a percent of it off, they are worth more

and last but not least... coupons that act kind of like gift cards... gives you x dollars amount off at a certain store... it's like having actual cash in hand and that can be worth more.
