Poll: How to handle $$ miscalculation in a trade.

Scenerio:

Trader offers item "x" for pphf/cc, etc.
You say I will take them all; give me a total
Trader send total and addy to send $$ to (paypal or RME)
You send the $$
Later same day or next day trader sends message: I did not calculate $$ correct. You need to send $XXX more if you still want the trade.

How do you handle this? I know my thoughts but want others. the poll is set up for multiple answers from each person.

I voted that the seller should eat the loss. If I was the seller I would, unless it is a humungous amount.

Sorry for the seller but, the fee was negotiated, the payment was sent - deal is done IMO.

Seller should send the q's out - if not, pm a moderator

I agree the seller should eat the loss. I probably would send the seller the money though. I always calculate the amount myself and ask the seller if it is right. I always show the math on the pm so it is easy for them to see it. I never take someone's word for it not because I don't trust them but because they might have a bad moment in math like I get sometimes, lol.

As the seller, I would probably take the loss. Don't want to burn any bridges on a mistake I made.

That being said, I also think both the buyer and seller should calculate the total to check each other. If I was the buyer and I wanted say 20 coupons @ $.04 each and the seller told me it would be $.60 total, I would ask them to double check their number or ask if they are giving a discount so there is no confusion.

Did you know the price per that was being asked before the total came? Did the total not add up to that price per quote? If that's the case..I'd pay & be ok with it...

I think... that it is both party's responsibility if the terms are up front...

But... unless it is a large amount... I wouldn't feel like it was a big deal...

Seller should eat the cost becase they set the price for the trade.
Maybe the seller got offered a higher pay price from another trader so ,they were trying to see if you would pay the higher price after you already paid.
I would report them if they did not send the coupons.The trade was complete when you paid.

regardless of amount involved, both should honor the terms of trade. if it is to buyer's benefit, good for them. since they are sending $ via paypal or RME, there is no way to just add "extras". what is sent is final and full payment.

IF, in above scenario, buyer agrees to pay for the miscalculated amount, well and good! BUT if they say the trade is final and executory, seller is required to send their end.

the amount in question is not that big to cause a rift between 2 parties. if buyer will not pay the difference, seller should just chalk it up and be careful next time. seller may also refuse another trade with that buyer if they felt they were cheated.

i agree that the seller should eat the loss, unless it was a huge amount--but you said that it was less than $5. i understand that it is up to each end to ensure they are paying the proper amount, and like shoppinglinda223 said, if you were purchasing so many coupons and the math did not work out, ask if it was a discount. but if the person just gave you an outright price and then the next day decided to try to get more $$, i would not finish the trade...but it is hard because it sounds like you've already mailed out your end. all in all, if you traded/bought with the terms listed and it was not an honest mistake (like send me $1 instead of $10) then i would just report them to a mod and not finish the trade. sorry this is so long, but i am just giving you my point of view from a newbie trader. thanks!!
