| Re: Poll: How to handle $$ miscalculation in a trade. I said both people should double check. I know not everyone does that, so I usually try to write out my math.
If you already sent the money, its too late. The trade is done. You can't change the terms after you have agreed. The seller should eat the cost. Their mistake = their loss. And if someone pulled that with me, I wouldn't trade with them anymore.
I'm not out to make money with my extra coupons. Clearly, since I have them at .02 each. I just want them outta my face. If I made that mistake, I would eat the cost. That isn't even anything to think about or consider for me.

I learned the hard way today with a trade post for some nice WT MIRs listed up for trade at .50 a piece, I didnt SPECIFY that postage is additional. One member decided to PP me the .50 even for one, no postage. ... fine, I hope she enjoys it... I edited my post to specify postage is additional to avoid this happening again. I did not msg her back asking for the postage. (bc its pretty obviously intentional) since my post didnt specify, I mailed it out and "ate the loss" |
You would think someone would realize they need to pay postage. I always add postage to my order when I am buying from someone. To me it is common sense and courteous to do so. I want to be known as a good trader and fair. |

If you are each mailing something to each other, then the stamps cancel out. Not so with Paypal. When I am sending PP and the seller doesn't specifiy shipping, I send it anyway.

| Re: Poll: How to handle $$ miscalculation in a trade. Not to go off on a tangent here since this is CMC's thread but as far as the postage thing, I strongly advise you to put that in your post or your first PM to the person. We don't assume.
You know what my high school math teacher said about what you do when you assume?
Some people do round it off and quote a # including postage and a newbie trader is not going to know what is customary here.
So please please, specify that!
Now... onto CMC's post-I hope that if this was a real issue, and you're the buyer you would tell the seller uh uh ask for a refund and if they refuse contact a bad trade mod. I don't think you need me to tell you that.

We don't assume. | I agree. People sell their coupons for all different prices. I assume postage is included unless otherwise specified. Maybe I'm wrong or not nice?? I guess it is something to think about.
I've eaten losses many times and learned many lessons. If a price is agreed upon that is the price/trade. |

| Re: Poll: How to handle $$ miscalculation in a trade. I put the trade should stand. If I had miscalculated and shorted my self money then that would be my problem. I would not expect a trader to give me more money for my mistake.
On the other hand if the seller miscalculated and later came back and refunded some of my $, then great.

| Re: Poll: How to handle $$ miscalculation in a trade. As a seller, if I messed up then I would eat the cost. However, as a buyer, a lot would depend on how obvious the mistake was. If the mistake was obvious, I would question the seller because we all have bad math days and I would not want to take advantage of some one because of this. If the mistake was not obvious and the seller later let me know, I would pay the difference, but probably not trade with that person again and definately not leave positive feedback. I would not leave negative feedback, but maybe neutral feedback with an explanation so that it is documented for others.
