Q: How do I know if I have a pending trade in the database?
A: When you log into Hot Coupon World, you will see welcome, membername. Under this you will see either the words private messages OR the words your notifications. If you have a trade pending, under your notifications it will have the words incoming or outgoing trade activity. This means someone has left a trading note for you.

Q: How do I set up a trade using the database?
Q: Someone has an item on their wishlist that I want or I have one on my havelist to offer. Now what? AKA-Steps to Database Trading

A: Find the item you want to trade or that you want to trade for.
Once you find a person who has that item on their list, you can try to initiate a trade. Remember to check their feedback and Bad Trader Forum first!

Click on Initiate Trade
The Trade Action dialog box opens

Type in your offer, list any additional info that is pertinent to your trade and click submit.

The other trader will see the message you have left once they check their notifications.

Once they reply you will see a message under your notifications (top of the page under Welcome-your Username) either under “Incoming” or “Outgoing” Trades. Click there to get to your trades page in the database.

They will either counter, ask questions or accept your offer.
If it says offer accepted, you simply click on “Accept” and send your addy and any other info in the comments box.

If you need to exchange further information, use the “comment” button until you reach an agreement.

Once you click agree, since you initiated the trade you will need to hit “complete” once the trade has gone out. Another trade dialog box will appear asking you if you want to decrease the amount of coupons from your have list by the # you just traded. It is set to say yes. (This will only happen when you initiate a trade from your have list.) This eliminates you needing to delete the item off your have list or edit the # you have.

** If you manually need to edit the # in your have list or your wish list DO NOT delete the item in the middle of a trade via the database. You will lose the trade conversation as will the other trader. If you forget, simply add the item back to your list and your conversation should appear.

Now the other trader can also click “complete” on their end when they send. You will now have the option to leave feedback from the trade dialog in the database once you’ve received your end.

When the entire trade is completed and everyone has left feedback you may want to select “archive” to move that trade dialog off your main trade page.

If a trade agreement cannot be reached or there is no response, use the cancel feature and then archive to move that dialog off your main trade page.

Q: How do I initiate a trade for more than one item on a person's list?
A: The easiest way to do this is to use the comments section to type in the additional the items you want or want to trade. If you initiate trades on all the items you want, it may get confusing.


Q: How do I check to see if a member has more matches to my lists?

A: Select the "Traders Lists" under their name and you will be taken to their have and wish list.

Q: How can I check the other members feedback when in the database?
A: Click on "Trader Details" under their name when looking at your database lists. You will then be taken to their Itrader page where you can check feedback.

Q: A coupon I have is not listed in the database and I would like to add it to my list, how do I do this?
A: Click HERE and read the section entitled adding a new entry to the coupon database.

Once you add the coupon it asks if you would like to add it to one of your lists.

Q: I have a coupon someone needs, or they have what I need. What next?

A: Send the other member a PM with your offer. Include the details of the coupons you have for trade and/or what you are looking for in return. The more specific you can be up front, the better off you will be. Once you've made an agreement, mail your end when promised (generally no more than 48 hours). Save the PM until your trade has arrived and is complete.

Q: I was in the middle of trade negotiations with a member and they stopped communicating with me. Can I set up a different trade or am I committed to the trade I was working on?

A: If you have not finalized the trade yet, meaning you have not exchanged addresses yet and come to an agreement, you may move on to the next trader. Generally 24-48 hours without contact would be a reasonable time to wait. However if you are in need of the coupons for a sale or they are soon to expire, you want to be up front from the beginning.


Q: I set up a trade with another member and we each agreed to what was being exchanged. I sent my address but he/she did not send theirs. What next?


A: If you have asked for the address and they still have not sent it after 48 hours, contact a trade mod.

Q: A member does not have Trader or Trader in Training under their name and wants to trade. What do I do?

A: First off, confirm whether they are a member of the Trader Group. Once in a while there are Traders who have not posted much to the forums and their Trader status does not show up. Check with Bugface711 or Tacatcon if unsure. If they are not a member of TNT or the Trader Group, you are advised not to trade with them and encourage them to join as a Trader in Training. If you choose to trade with them anyway it is at your own risk.

Q: When is a trade considered finalized?

A: When all trade details have been discussed and addresses have been exchanged. If for some reason only one addy is sent, because the other forgets, this is still considered finalized because one party would be mailing out their end.

Q: How do I track my trades?

A: There are many ways you can keep track of the trades you make here at Hot Coupon World. You may have to try more than one system to find the one that works best for you.

If you trade using the database, the trade is tracked for you.

Some members use a trading notebook where trade details are written in, others use a computer generated trade tracker. (think excel, word etc.)

If you set up a trade using the private message system, you should always keep the final message between your and the other trader.
If each member used the reply feature during trade discussion, all of the messages will be in the final PM. This way, you have a full history if the trade.
