USPS Postage Guidelines (updated 5/11/09)

While the cheat sheet is a good reference point, you can't rely on it 100% because if your envie is "thick" they will charge you extra. (At least my post office does)
They always try to slide my envies through this slot thing they have next to their register and if it doesn't fit, it's another rate.
Doe's anyone else's post office do the slot test?

I went to a p.o. that I don't normally go to this week.
The guy did that to one of my envies.
At my regular p.o. they happily take all of my envies with no second glances.

Mine does this if I go inside the P.O. to have it weighed at the counter. If I weigh it at home and apply the proper postage and just put it in the mailbox, it usually goes thru.

I always take mine inside and have them weighed. My last two trades were pretty fat so I knew a regular 0.44 stamp was not going to cut it. It is a hassle to go in w/ my 2 boys but I would hate for someones envelope to come back to me because I did not put enough postage on it. I am a new trader and do not have a scale so for right now that is the way to go for me.

I go in because I usually have a question as to if it'll fit through the tester slot.
Has anyone ever paid attention as to how much an envie goes up if it doesn't fit in the test slot? I usually have lot's of transactions so I don't pay attention.
