If you get a Rain check and the item comes in AFTER the SCR period......here is a helpful number, you CAN still get the rebate!

Make sure they understand that the right keys have to be pressed so the receipt prints out with the word 'RAINCHECK' on it.

Man I wish I would have known this last month! My store was out of the Pantene the entire time it had SCR. I went in today and sure enough there was a ton. The lady told me they only got 2 bottles in the entire month they had the SCR. Know I know to get a rain check! Thanks!

NEWBIE HERE: I have a feeling these stores handle rebates differently. How frustrating. Anyway, I wanted the Bausch & Lomb Renu solution $9.99 OOP but free after rebate and the Olay Skin Cleanser $7.99 OOP and free after rebate. Of course the store was completely out of these two items . . . so I asked for a raincheck and how do I still qualify for the rebate. I got a raincheck handwritten with date and sale price. The cashier didn't know the answer to my question, didn't know anything about pressing "raincheck" on her cash register. (She wasn't too pleasant and I felt dumb . . . oh well). Anyways, she ended up asking the manager and the manager told me that I can just bring my rainchecks in and get the items for the rebate - which is free. So she told me I'll get those 2 items for free in the store. I'm nervous about this. I'll just hold onto my flyer with the rebate info and my rainchecks and hope it all works out. Sounds like some of you have had this happen before.

i called the CS to make sure and they told me we cannot do this over the phone but u need to mail/fax it to show that u purchased it with a raincheck.

They can do it over phone if you use the phone number and ext given in the OP. I have used it several times now and haven't had to fax/mail anything in.

I tried to get the same products starting on Monday morning and was still trying Sat night hitting all the stores. Finally at the last store they informed me that none of the local stores got the products in for the week that were FREE after rebate and they just got a truck in Friday night and none of the above items were on the truck. I was wondering what was going on I live in a city and would not think that every store would be out of them since Monday. I asked for a raincheck and she told me she would give me one but I wouldn't be able to get the rebate. I wish I would have taken the raincheck now. Do you think there is anything I can do now or is it to late? I was so because I really needed the contact solution. Oh well win some lose some.

I would explain to the manager that you found out that you can get the rebate as long as when you buy the product they price modify and use the rain check option and then you can call the rebate department and have it applied to your account.. and see if they will store do it for you even though the sale is over. It amazes me how managers do not even know about the programs in their own store...

It sounds like you're a little confused here so let me run through my scenario for you. You DO get a hand written rain check when the item is out of stock. When the item comes in and you actually purchase it is when it important that the cashier key it into the computer correctly. You take that receipt, call the number, they verify your info and generally speaking they will have you fax your receipt to them and refund. It sounds like this person "Jill" may be the goddess of SCRs that we've all been looking for if she'll just do it with a phone call! so much easier.

For what its worth, I had to call the number on the SCR booklet with my clerk and manager there and get this info for them! Great store and people so it is obvious that corporate is NOT training them properly in what to do in these situations. In terms of items being OOS, the Olay was a real mess for them last week and it is an issue where they either grossly underordered terribly or their main suppliers dropped the ball because they didn't even have any in the warehouses!!!!!
