Raincheck-What Shows Up on Receipt?

I know that if a sale item is out of stock you can get a raincheck to buy that item later on at the sale price, but I'm wondering how exactly the cashier goes about ringing up the item and what shows up on your receipt?
Is the item rung up and then the difference in price deducted? Does the cashier just entered the price manually without scanning the item? Can you still use Q's for the item? Does the item still count towards any available rebates?

The item is scanned at the register and then price adjusted to the rain check amount. You can still use a coupon on the item as long as it isn't expired. You can still submit the rebate online if the rebate period is still current. If the item is only for a week or 3 days as they were last week, then you can still get a raincheck, but you should wait 48 hours after purchasing item with your rainchek and then call the toll free number on the back of the rebate book so that they can give you credit for the item. The register receipt will look something like this

Thank you for explaining that - I always used to pass up the deals (for the 1 week / 3 day SCR items) because I didn't know it would still work with a raincheck.

Rite Aid Single Check Rebates

I called the Rite Aid Single Check Rebate number, and I was told as long as the receipt says raincheck and it's within 30 days of being written then they will accept it. They said to circle the item on the receipt, and put the offer number next to it. I was also told to write a note explaining the situation. I think that's redundant, but I did it anyway. I just said that they were out of stock when I went, got a raincheck, and then bought them when they got them back in. I was told to send the rebates to this address:

I sent in mine from March and they already sent out my check.
