Thank You for sharing. Very informative. And your recipe sounds yummy. I will have try it this weekend.
Rice-After 8 hour days that turned into a fulltime research for 2 months into finding the lowest GI(Glycemic Index & Glycemic Load Rice),
I FOUND IT!
Rembember, the higher the GI of a food, over 50+, the sooner you will become hungry again.
Fat will be stored, not burned, secondary to the sugar load on the liver.
1.)I will tell you which common store bought rice it is, and it suprisingly is:
"White Rice", but just ONE brand.
2nd is Basmati.
2.) I will share my favorite Recipe for it, which includes "Extra Virgin Organic Coconut Oil". Though white & hard at room temp, it melts like butter. This kind is healthy & different from the bad "Hydrogentated" Coconut Oil.
I buy my oil in glass jars, since plastic leaches toxic chemicals into the oil
called Bi-Polysphenol (BPA).
The only glass jar I have found is:
"Garden of Life" in Health Food stores, $11/1#, but less in large plastic jars. Nutiva brand in 54oz plastic jar is a good deal for approx $22 when short term, I like it in a pinch.
Extra Virgin Coconut oil uses & where to buy. I will pay a higher price for Extra Virgin since there are less toxic chemicals in processing the oil & for the Glass.
Since I consider this to be MEDICINE for me, it is a cheap medicine when taken by the teaspoon or used to fry in.
The only thing that doesn't taste good fried in it are eggs.
It is worth it if only to unclog arteries, but does much, much more.
Excellent for Eczema when taken orally daily, with the new Probiotic "Sustenex" Bacillus Coagulans-not in any other brand, sold at Wags.
I have seen this clear a 40 year Eczema condition, that was resistant to every Rx & treatment by countless MD's.
Can be melted in kids Hot Chocolate, or in making French Fries.
Daily Amount needed:
EVOCO doseage=1.3 Tablespoons/Day for adults or 4 Teaspoons divided with each meal.
Coconut Oil + Sustenex=daily medicine for my family, countless uses for health conditions.
This oil has been shown to boost metabolism, burn fat & belly fat, shut down high levels of "Fat Storage Hormone (FSH)."
It helps decrease appetite, help dissolve artery plaque & decrease blood
fats like Cholesterol & Triglycerides, assist Brain Function in all learning, focus & reasoning & memory.
Due to the learning benefits:
Great for ALL kids in School, ALL learning disabilities.
Higher levels of Fat Storage Hormone(FSH) are commonly found in individuals greater than 30# overweight, eating a typical high simple carb American diet, Diabetics , and those with Pre-Diabetes or Insulin Resistance.
So, it is true:
"Fat breeds more Fat", due to FSH.
Coconut Oil helps shut this problem down, whether taken straight by the teaspoon , or adding it to cooked recipes.
I do both consistantly.
Heat does not destroy it's benefits.
Purpose: I did this extensive research for my family alone.
I wanted to share my efforts, realizing as of 1/2010 this info just isn't out there.
Hope that changes for those outside HCW.
Not one source came out and listed the lowest GI Rice.
Best GI or Glycemic Index Range is Zero to 50.
Remember, Granulated Sugar is a perfect "100 GI", so some rices have more sugar impact on our bodies than eating table sugar!!
Rice can go from 47-158 GI.
Most foods only go to the top standard of 100 GI.
:sad:Highest GI Rices:
Minute Rice/Instant Rice. White or Brown.
Since Brown Rice has so little fiber, some BR has a higher GI than WR.
Sushi Rice
Sweet Rice
Sticky Rice-which ALL Chinese Restaurant Rice is!
Arborio Rice
Jasmine Rice
ANY Boiling Bag Rice or Boxed Flavored Rice
LOWEST GLYCEMIC INDEX AND GLYCEMIC LOAD RICE AVAILABLE TODAY:
Best Choice Rice!
Uncle Ben's Original Converted Parboiled White Rice..
GI= 47-55. Firm Rice is 47. Soft Rice is 55 per Cup Cooked Serving.
Basmati Rice is a distant SECOND choice.
GI range of 65-85 for white or brown.
Where to buy: I don't use the Q's, not enough of a savings.
I get mine for $1/1#, when buying a 25 Pound Bag.
At either a Restaurant Supply Store or Costco.
I Buy the 25# Uncle Ben's Original Converted, Parboiled White Rice.
NOT the BOILING BAGS!
RECIPE
Uncle Ben's Basic Rice Recipe with added fat burning Coconut Oil.
(9) 1 Cup Cooked Servings
Note if using water: Remember, NEVER use Hot Tap Water from the faucet for cooking, as this brings all of the corrosion from the pipes & the bottom of the Hot Water Tank into the food.
The older the pipes the more crud comes from the pipes when hot.
If must use tap water for cooking, I use a Brita Filter,
always use COLD Tap Water, & keep a filled Brita 6 Qt Pitcher by the stove for boiling noodles or rice, etc.
Liquid=5 Cups (1 can Swanson's MSG Free Beef Broth + Chicken Broth to equal at total of 5 cups liquid.)
RICE=2.5 Cups
Extra Virgin Organic Coconut Oil=3 Tablespoons (May subsitute Olive Oil)
Salt or Mrs. Dash=1 Tablespoon
Onion Powder=2 Teaspoons.
Rinse rice before cooking in cold water to decrease carbs even more.
Add all ingredients except for rice in pot on top of stove, bring to a boil, add rice & turn down to a simmer & add lid for approx 20 minutes or until water is absorbed.
This has a nice, mild flavor to eat alone, or may be seasoned further to add to any other dishes, & still take on the extra flavor.
Note: I don't work for, or get paid by the companies of these products.
Thank You for sharing. Very informative. And your recipe sounds yummy. I will have try it this weekend.

Thanks WB for the information and the recipe.
Raising children(especially teens) is like being pecked to death by a chicken
In my defense, I will only bid human beings in the auction forum if it's a MM.
