Veterans and Active Duty Military, I salute you!
I hope our Applebee's participates this year. Last year none of the restaurants around here were doing this.
McCormicks and Schmicks also does a free veterans meal on Veteran's Day. Mark will be home for a minute before heading back out to Iraq that following Saturday. I'll have to tell him to take the kids to one of the other since I'll be in Vegas for work that day.
Thanks OP!

The M&S meal will be on Sunday, Nov. 8th. McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurants-Featured Promotions-Veterans Appreciation Day DD Form 214 or similar ID required
The Applebees list of approved ID items is very biased toward active duty and retired. Considering most veterans don't make it all the way to retirement (and don't join VFW or Legion), it seems a little narrow.
Valid Veteran and Active Duty Identification to Obtain Free Entree:
* U.S. Uniform Services Identification Card
* U.S. Uniform Services Retired Identification Card
* Current Leave and Earnings Statement (LES)
* Veterans Organization Card (i.e., American Legion and VFW)
* Photograph in uniform
* Wearing uniform
I spent 10 years on active duty and reserves and wouldn't have any on that list except the photo. I hope they are a little more forgiving and accept other proof. I'd hate to bring a DD214 and find they don't consider that valid.
I would think that if they'd accept a picture of a veteran in uniform, that they'd accept a DD214 as proof of service. It'd be a lot easier to match up the names on a DD214 to a driver's license for ID purposes, than to just see a boot camp graduation picture and tell that it's the same guy. (That's the only picture DH has that he's wearing a USMC uniform.)
But then since they accept a Veteran's Organization's card - I think he'll be ok with his Marine Corps League lifetime membership card, plus I think he's going to be marching in the parade on Veteran's Day, so he'll be in his MCL uniform anyways.

Mmmmmm.....2 free meals that week. Gotta love that. I know we have an Applebees right down the road. And I think there ins a M&S around here too.
When it rains, it pours. I haven't even finished up all the free meals from my birthday this month (and my local burrito place launches a new product in a week and they give freebies for each affinity card -- and don't forget free burritos at Chipotle on Halloween for wearing a tin foil hat).
