    Re: Starbucks

I just got schooled on the Starbucks coffee refill...

I must have been going in at the right time and got the refill price the past few weeks. Now they have a whole new group of people there and they are charging the $1.70 price now. Sorry all if I mislead....:shrug7:

but the tea thing is still valid...

This particular Starbucks I go to is in an large uptown building so it has a lot of people coming though and they are giving me and a lot of others a free refill.

As far as the health thing from what I can see that the filling nozzle is high enough off the counter that the person filling the coffee can keep it from touching the dispenser. Just to give you an example, if I wanted a refill at a fast food restaurant it would be a health violation according to what you say because I took it and used it and brought it back for a refill. So I don't think that would fly with most people if they were refused a refill. Most places just ask you to take the top and/or the straw and then refill your cup and hand it back.

At this point I'll leave it with a caveat of "your results may vary"...
The health code thing: pertains to taking things behind a counter. You couldnt bring your own dishes with you to applebees and hand them to the cook. Being a nurse, germ transmission is always a concern for me. I am sure your starbucks would be in big trouble if health code enforcers knew they were bringing other peoples dishes behind the counter.

EG: little girl with stomach flu walks into starbucks with her mom. Touches the door handle. You touch door handle. You touch mug. You give mug to starbucks lady, starbucks lady touches mug. Voilia - 10 new people have the stomach flu. Happens all the time, but food service places are required to take measures to prevent outbreaks. Hence - violation
