I voted..bag it baby bag it!!!!
Breast side down in a roasting pan
Reynold's Roasting Bag
Foil Wrapped Turkey(like it sounds wrap the whole bird in foil)
Braised Turkey(tightly covered in roasting pan)
No Bag, Right Side up, and Baste(when I remember to baste)
What is a Turkey?
Going to do a little poll and HCW members will decide how I make my turkey.
Melli and I each have a turkey in our freezers that we need to cook to make some room. Melli will be making her with the "Martha Stewart Cheesecloth Method". I, on the other hand, have never done that method and would like to possibly try something new. Based on the responses to the poll, I will make my turkey however the majority rules....what can I say, I'm feeling adventurous.
First off, the turkey won't be stuffed and won't be brined(it won't fit in the fridge brining).
This turkey "cook-off" will be next Thursday, February 10th. Voting will go through next Wednesday, the 9th at 8pm EST.
I will post pictures of the finished product, how it worked out, and my family's reaction to the meal.

I have cooked a Thanksgiving turkey breast-side down in a roasting pan before and it turned out wonderful.
:P
This isn't one of your choices but the most awesome, juicy turkey I've ever had in my life looked like it came from the pages of a magazine. It sounds really strange but it works.
Wash the turkey. Remove all the stuff that comes inside. Place right side up in a roasting pan. Preheat the oven. Bake the turkey at 500 degrees for one hour. Turn the oven off. DO NOT OPEN THE OVEN. Leave the door shut until the oven cools (probably a couple hours). Again, do not open the oven after you put the turkey in until the oven cools. The turkey will be golden brown, beautiful, moist and cooked through.
My mom told me I was insane when I told her I was going to try it. I will never make a turkey any other way ever again. It was so easy and I had more time to worry about the sides instead of the turkey.

A few years back we did Martha Stewarts cheesecloth method and haven't done it different since!
We use apple cider and butter to baste!
Use a timer to remind yourself to baste helps as well. Good luck!

I love the martha method too - I started doing it a few years ago and actually this last Thanksgiving, my mother allowed me to cook the ENTIRE meal on my own which thrilled me - and I used that method on the turkey, and even mom complimented my work. She is not easily impressed lol. She couldn't stop going on about the perfect skin and juicy meat and asked a lot of questions about how it was done. So yeah, I'm sticking with that method :)
We also stuff the turkey with apples, onions and celery.
We make the stuffing in a crockpot

I admit I have made a turkey many different ways....this is just my attempt at something new that everybody here can decide on. I am actually pretty excited to see what everybody says!
