Of all the stuff I DO have, one thing I do not is an electric can opener...I dunno, I have had one or two in the past and now I think I don't want one on my counter, if I have to take it out of a drawer and plug it in then why not just use the manual one I have? The one I Have for camping is hard to use it is tiny and my husband has to figure it out for me. It is one of those really primitive ones.

I just got my new frying pans yesterday. Yay! I have a Henckels (13") pan that was given to us that my hubby loves...it's the aluminum core type. I ordered the Sitram Catering line (French made) that has a copper sandwich bottom, stainless steel. Made a lovely omelet for hubby's breakfast this morning. Nicer than the cast iron. lol Quite pricey, but I think these should last us for years to come and be able to pass down to the kids type thing.

I also ordered a NordicWare (US made) individual pineapple upside down cake pan. Makes 6 little cakes. It's really cute. I was made to make them last night. lmao Turned out wonderful, but I should have ordered two. It does have a type of a nonstick surface, but not the regular teflon crap, so I hope it will last. I don't usually use nonstick stuff as I don't like it, but hubby wanted this pan.

Thanks for the can opener suggestions. My old one attached under the cupboard, so it was up off the counter and I loved it! Don't think they make them anymore, now that they unseal instead of cut the cans. Guess I'm inept, but the only manual can openers that have ever worked for me are the dinky little ones!
Our restaurant supply store moved to another city, so don't have that option any longer. Also, lost our upper-end departments stores. They used to have GREAT clearance tables which really helped stock the kitchen.
Seems like whenever I buy anything at full-price it's a lemon. If I buy it on clearance or at a thrift store or garage sale, it turns out to be a work-horse. That's how I got my Vitamix, bread machine, wheat grinder, juicers, etc. Maybe I'll have to hit garage sales this summer looking for a can opener!
