SMILE Depression Cooking - Meals from the Depression

I saw a post on the Fun Foods on a Budget blog (sorry, google it) that mentioned an old 90-some year-old lady cooking her meals from the Depression - I thought I'd share, and try one or two myself - after all, they're cheap - why not?!

That was something. My Mother still makes cornbread and puts it in a bowl and pours a little milk on it and thats how she likes it. Sometimes she talks about the hard times but not to much anymore. Shes the one who taught me to wash out ziploc bags! and to use baking soda mixed with a little salt to brushyour teeth. That generation could tell you a thing or two about being frugal.

Ya know, when I first read your title, I thought this thread was going to be about cooking WHILE depressed. I had a little giggle once I figured out what it was really about. (I get a little blue from time to time, and cooking perks me right up, so my first thought wasn't so silly in my mind!) Okay, stop laughing at me now ;)

Haha, I thought about posting that "No, this is not figuring out what to make for dinner Thurs night after a crazy stressful week of staying home with a couple of little kids" or something to that extent, lol

    I loved the videos.
Very nicely done. I wished I would have done that with my grandmother. My grandmother made a cookbook in a binder of her and her friends recipes.
A video seeing her cook would have been nicer.
