Default Help with recipe for big family

I am totally at a loss when it comes to dinner anymore. I have a huge family (there are 10 of us total) and my son is SUPER picky. We love anything with alot of flavor especially garlic, lemon, ect. I have tried alot of new recipes but It never seems to make enough. I was wondering if anyone had any really good ideas for such a large family that is cheap and easy to prepare. Also any crock-pot recipes would be AWESOME! (Any less time I have to spend in the kitchen the better!!) Thanks!

I have an amish cookbook that has recipes in there that feed up to 200 people ~ no kidding! maybe you can look into a cookbook of their recipes and get some good ideas! (they also include some crockpot recipes as well)... just a thought! :) Good luck!

Crockpots are my saving grace :) They cook without attention spent, they cook overnight, they cook while I'm running errands and they cook without heating up the house or running up the utility bill

Now, all you need to do to find good recipes is in your search engine, punch in something like : beef crockpot recipes, or - chicken crock pot recipes or any main ingredient you desire to find recipes for.

I have three ring binders full of recipes I've printed off from the net and everytime I try a recipe, I get the 'input' from the peanut gallery and if they like it I flag that recipe, sometimes alter it if they want more of 'this or that' in it

Excellent recipes abound for free out there on the www - I've been doing it for years and found so many wonderful recipes we like, I'm sure you can do the same! You could try one a week or two a week if you want and before you know it, you have a book full of family 'likes'!

go to allrecipes.com, select crockpot recipes, pick the recipe, and then you can calculate the # you need to feed. I love this site.

Maybe you could cut the amounts in half, or make the full recipes and freeze leftovers for a second meal that just needs to be thawed and reheated later on. Not everything can be frozen, of course, but it would save you having to cook large amounts every single night.

Also do a google search for OAMC (Once a Month Cooking). The portions are usually large enough to portion out in the freezer for several meals, but in your case maybe you would get one or two meals instead.
