Default I need picnic food recipes!

We got invited to a picnic and asked to bring two side dishes and/or desserts. I went to sign up for my standard things (potato salad, pasta salad, and cookies), but everything was already taken! Also taken were Rice Krispie Treats and homemade hot dog chili. There will be about 12 adults and close to as many kids.

I need some tried and true ideas. We'll be at a local park, so I don't think I'll have any electrical outlets to use or anything. This has to be kid-friendly and preferably healthy.

    Many thanks in advance!

well, I don't know if it is "healthy" but I really like Dave Lieberman's baked beans recipe (food network). It's super yummy. A bit nontraditional due to the size of the beans but it tastes great!

You could also try one of those asian salads that use ramen noodles--I have a recipe if you need it. I don't think there is anything that could go bad.

As someone with small children, I think you can scarcely ever to wrong with plain old fresh fruit cut up in a bowl (fruit salad). It always goes fast. =)

I know rice krispie treats were already taken, but this is a new spin on them. Make them as normal, cut out with cookie cutters, frost with marshmallow creme(food colored of course). The kids go crazy over them. I use chocolate to make whiskers on the bunnys, little dots of choc for the eyes, ect. Kind of like decorating a cookie.

In my defense, I will only bid human beings in the auction forum if it's a MM.

I also have a very simple bread dip recipe. Use 2 cans chicken breast, 1 carton sour cream, 1 cup Hellmans Mayo, 1pkg Ranch Dip Mix. Mix all together and use with Kings Hawaiin Sweet Bread. It is always a big hit. You can hollow out the bread and use as a bowl, but that wastes so much bread.
