Default how do you make re-fried beans?

Does anyone have a easy , simple recipe for re-fried beans? What goes with re-fried beans?

I am trying to finds ways to make things go farther and I need some help.
I know I can do chili w/ pinto beans.

I am looking for things that I can use once and take it to make different meals with .
I am hoping this helps me be more frugal and not waste as much food.

Thanks for all your help

Here is what i do with my dried pinto beans.
I take the beans and put them in a crock pot after soaking with either bacon or left over ham/hamhock. Then i add chopped green chili, garlic, chili powder, etc. Then I eat it with corn bread. You can eat fajitas with refried beans and rice on the side. You can make fried beans burritos. I make green chili burritos with ground beef seasons and refried beans and cheese and pour hatch green chili sauce(can't find this anywhere but nm) over it and bake in oven. You can make nachos in the oven for a quick meal. Take corn chips put beans cheese and jalapeno on top if you prefer and broil. You could also make chili for your hotdogs or just to eat as you mentioned. I could go on for ever.

I am a vegetarian so the way I make them doesn't involve ham or lard. The best way is to get dried pinto beans and soak them overnight and then make them in a pot or crock pot using the water ratio on the package. The thing that really makes a huge difference in the flavor of the beans is epazote which I can easily find in the ethnic foods section of my store in the 99cent packets of mexican herbs and spices. It is twigs from a bush that add a special flavor and apparently reduce the gaseous properties from the beans. I usually toss a few sprigs into the beans. Make sure you count them as you put them in so you can easily pull them out later.

When the beans have cooked I drain them and rinse them off. In the bottom of a large pot, I saute a finely chopped onion in a bit of canola oil (maybe about 4 tbsp) and then add a few cloves of minced garlic. When everything is cooked and translucent I use my hand blender to make a paste of the onions and garlic and then add the beans one ladelful at a time to the mixture and combine them using a potato masher. Sometimes you will need to add more oil or cooking water because they get too thick. I also salt and pepper to taste.

They can be used for lots of things but my favorites are burritos, nachos and over top of home fries.

I just follow the directions on the bag of dried pinto beans. When they're done, mash 'em up with salt & maybe a little oil. No meat in ours either.

YUM!!

I just cook the beans with bacon and maybe a couple slices of jalapenos and of course a bit of salt. I just mash them as is, using a food processor occasionally if I have a bunch of beans to mash.

Refried beans go with everything! My favorite breakfast (I occasionally pick up stuff before work) is huevos rancheros with beans and fried potatoes! Of course, my children love bean and cheese tacos for any meal.

cool ideas, I am glad they can be used in alot of different ways.
I will try some of the ideas above.
I want to find things that we can stretch into more meals and stop wasting so much food.
What other foods can I stretch like beans to get more meals out of?
Can you freeze re-fried beans ?

Cook up a bunch of ground beef (buy the big packs, and freeze separate 1lb bags), and use it for Taco Salads, beef enchiladas, sloppy joes, or spaghetti pie.

Crock Pot Refried Beans

Soak your dried pinto beans in your crockpot in the fridge overnight. Fill it half full with beans and cover to top with water. Drain water and rinse beans. Put back in crockpot and fill to top with water. Cook on high for 8 hours, make sure it never runs out of water. Drain some of the excess liquid, but keep liquid in a separate container. Add 1-2 tsp. salt and 1-3 T butter and about 1 cup mild salsa. Blend with hand mixer until mostly smooth. Add additional reserved liquid if it is not desired consistency.
