Default Can someone explain rebates to me please? :(

I'm not new to couponing, but I'm trying to "open the doors" into the whole world of it. I know what a rebate is, I've saw the forms but I've heard so much different talk about them, that I thought I would ask for more information.

I live in NC, so I've read that there's a "no beer purchase required" here. Can you please explain this further? I would be very much appreciative! tia!

Any and all rebate info would be great!

Ok, I'll give it a shot at explaining this.

Beer companies like Budweiser, Heineken, Miller, etc. put out rebates every couple of months. They are for all kinds of things: meat, produce, snacks, condiments, cheese, groceries. And during the holidays, there are rebates related to items you would buy. It's summer now, so there are a lot of rebates related to grilling items and beach/swimming/patio stuff This past Christmas, there were rebates on the purchase of Christmas decorations, and giftcards.

The beer companies want you to buy the beer AND the meat, etc. to get the rebate. Some states (like IL, where I live), you have to buy the beer in order to do the rebate. Some states do NOT require a beer purchase. You just buy the meat (or whatever it is), fill out the form, and send in the receipts on the correct date. (You have to read all the fine print and make sure you filled in all the information, and sent in the correct receipts with prices circled.) In 6-8 weeks or so, you get a lovely check in the mail.

It's a nice savings in addition to couponing. Sometimes even a moneymaker! Let's say you buy Tostitos on sale with a coupon. Then there is a rebate for $5 on salty snacks! You just got money back and then some!

I'm in NC, and let me just say it's a great state to rebate in.

Booklover did a great job explaining it.

Usually, you find these rebates on tearpads on beer displays. Often, they aren't in the beer department but on special displays through out the store. I have the best luck finding these at Food Lion, but I find them at all of my other grocery stores and sometimes drug stores and convenience stores as well.

If you check out the trading board, you will find lots of traders with rebates.
