How to Organize Receipts for Rebates

Hi,
I'm new to using rebates, and would like advice on organizing receipts.
Where do you all store them? I just sent away for a rebate, and the ink of the receipt wore away because it was so close to other papers :(

Is a portfolio-type folder good? Something else?

that's a very good question. I have not run into too many problems with that yet I keep all my receipts on my desk clipped together but I guess cause I get them out right away that I don't have the fading issue yet sometimes I clip the receipts I want to use clipped to the actual rebate I want to use it for. My one tip I know it's crazy but it works a lot and it's one of the reasons I can do so many rebates, I have friends/family give me there receipts if they don't do rebates or while i'm out I'm always looking on the ground, carts etc for people dropping there receipts =)

We have quite a bit of storage space in our home office. LOTS of drawer and cabinet space. Bottom line, I never throw out receipts, at least not right away. I just toss them all into a drawer, and every month or so, I sit down and sort through rebates and straighten everything up.

I use a small photo album for organizing my rebates and applicable receipts. I file my receipts with each rebate as I get them (if I am buying for a specific rebate).

All other receipts are put into an accordian envelope, with most recent first. I go ahead and circle the date on the receipt so I don't have to search each receipt for the date later on. Then every week or two I try to go through them and place with appropriate rebate. I have had some of the ink fade but not sure why it happens. I also scope out the parking lot for receipts as well as the buggy (cart) corrals--I always park next to one if I can so I am not too obvious.
