QUESTION Boo hoo! My first rebates were rejected! Any suggestions?

I submitted 2 rebates to Scotts on time. I just received them back saying I did not buy from more than one category as specified. But I had. I bought TP on one receipt and paper towels on the other and included both receipts. All was in order.

Now what do I do? Do I write a letter pointing out where they are wrong? Both were rejected for the same reason. I looked the rules over and nothing said that both items had to be purchased in the same transaction. The rules said "receipt(s)" which indicated to me it could be on two separate purchases for the rebate.

Anyone else have this difficulty? Why would they reject this? Any suggestions on what to do next? Naturally I purchased these items with the rebate in mind and am very disappointed that this has happened.

Maybe rebating is not for me.

    Thanks in advance for help,

    Karen

If I remember right you actually had to buy more than one item for one rebate...From what you are saying you submitted two receipts for two rebates and that wouldn't work since the two receipts would go with one rebate. Is that what you are saying or am I reading it wrong?

Does the rejection letter and/or the rebate form have a phone number you can call? If so, I would give that a try first. Usually they can look up your rebate and see specifically what the reason was for rejection, many times it turns out to be an error on their part. Did you make a copy of what you submitted to them? Sometimes they'll ask you to resubmit what you sent in if needed. Rebates can be frustrating at first, but they're worth it in the long run!

They have it up again on the website with dates of 11/15/2009-12/01/2009. I believe it's exactly the same. It won't let me copy/paste, but it says:

Buy 2 different Scott product categories Get $2 in Scott brand coupon rewards via email
    Buy 3 get $3
    Buy 4 get $4
Purchases must be from different Scott product categories.

So. Did you submit one toilet paper and one paper towel on each one? Or toilet paper on one and paper towel on the other? You're not clear on how you submitted them. Would have to be toilet paper and paper towel on each rebate form in order to get it. Also had to have the orignal UPC's and original receipt(s) with the items circled. They say one request per envelope, but I don't see where they have a limit on how many you can send in, unless I missed it somewhere in the fine print.
