I tried calling the number (866-611-2226 offer #08-11522). The person I spoke to did not understand my question because I don't think she knew what a coupon was. It says on the form to circle the grocery prices, so I think if you circled the beer purchase with all the other grocery items' prices circled, it would be fine if you were below $40 after coupons. It does say receipt in the singular form.

I just called and asked whether the out of pocket amount had to be $40+ or if I could use coupons to bring the total down to $30.00 - and he said "The out of pocket amount has to be $40+." I then asked again, "So I have to physically pay the store $40+ not just buy $40+ WORTH of groceries?" and he said "Correct."

It can't be. Because it is valid in Maryland, where we can't buy liquor in grocery stores.

I just got turned down on that rebate. I circled over $62 worth of groceries PLUS the beer, but, with all my Qs, it came out to less than $40. I thought that I remembered the rebate form to say "$40 worth of groceries." If that's what it said, then I definitely had $40 WORTH. I sent them a nice letter with their rejection card enclosed. We'll see how this works out. Even if it says "when you buy $40 of groceries," I did that, too. I just paid for some of the groceries with Qs. They are a form of payment. When I pay with a credit card, it shows a ZERO balance at the bottom of the receipt when the charge goes through. Does that mean I didn't buy anything?
