Most of the Shell stations in my area are at least 8¢/gal more than the competing gas station(s) down the road. If you find a Shell station that is reasonably priced and you need to do a total fill-up, then it might be worth losing the 100 points to get the 10¢/gal discount if you fill up more than 10 gallons. If I use some of my rewards points for fuel, what happens to the remainder of my rewards points at the end of a rewards cycle?
Customers who have earned more than 500 rewards points during a rewards cycle will receive a rewards certificate for each increment of 100 rewards points that remain. Any rewards points balance less than 100 will rollover to the next rewards cycle. At the end of each calendar year, all rewards points are reset and all customers will begin the year with a zero balance.

100 points = $1
100 points towards a 10¢ discount on a 20 gallon fill-up at a decent priced station = $2.00 (more or less)
As to the rewards remainder, I think this will depend on how many points you have accumulated and how many times you have chosen to use/take advantage of a "possible" rewards gas discount. Reward points remaining after your use of a gas discount reward, will determine what your actual reward mail-out will be after this.
