Re: Be on the lookout: Coupons found at Publix I actually work at Publix. My job is to pretty much make the store look pretty. I pull product forward, put things back in the right place, and generally make sure the store looks good for customers.
I don't personally use coupons but my mother does. I can't tell you how many coupons I find strewn on the shelf. As a rule, I'm not supposed to remove coupons from shelves because most times either other customers will decide not to buy a particular item and leave the coupon on the shelf or a vendor will come by and place a bunch of coupons on the shelf. Obviously, these coupons are meant for the customers, not for me. However, we're also supposed to remove trash (empty cups, papers, store flyers, crumpled up coupons) from the shelves. So I have my apron on and if I see crumpled up coupons, I stick them in my apron pocket since this is easier than having to run back and forth to throw out trash. If a coupon is sitting on top of an item or directly in front of it, I'll leave it there. But if it's sitting on an empty part of the shelf or if it's thrown behind a bunch of items, or if it's just in the way and thus preventing me from making the store look pretty, I'll just stick it in my pocket.
At the end of my work shift, I'll go through my pockets and throw out all the trash I collected. Most of the coupons I find are expired but occasionally I'll get one or two that haven't been expired. For example, yesterday I found a manu. coupon for a free bottle of Febreze spray when you buy a Febreze candle. It was on the floor when I found it so I kept it. I also found a coupon for a free Cesar dog food thing when you buy one. We don't carry that particular type (it was the new kind) so I took it since that's what my dogs eat.
If I see a customer buying a particular product and I notice a coupon sitting on the shelf for it, I'll give them the coupon. If on the rare occasion I'm cashiering and I see a customer buying a certain product that we have a store coupon for, I'll ask another cashier or a bagger for the coupon number to save the customer some money. And when you pair up BOGOs with coupons, that's where the real deals are.
So my question is this. Is the point of this thread to point out STORE coupons I found in order to inform other people that that particular coupon exists or is it just to brag a little about the coupons I found lying around the store? |
