HAPPY DANCE Re: publix new b1g1 policy

Stores here in Spartanburg, SC have this policy posted at each register now. Guess it is another example of how the extreme couponing show is hurting legitimate couponers.

Yeah, I mean I understand why they do it...

Now when something is not B1G1 but instead is 2/$x, for example, not sure how that works. I guess any "sale" is considered a deal, right? So in the 2/$x example, could you get a total of 5 or a total of 10 in one trip? Is it five, period in that case, or does the "two for..." make each 2 of the item one deal? But then if something were 3/$x, would that mean you could get 15 of that thing? Hmmm

Me, I have actually gone through checkout two different times with five of an item each time when I wanted ten in a 2/$x deal, just to be sure I didn't run into any hassles about it because I hate to hold up a line or stall the register if I can help it. (And yes, I did ask one person working there, and they weren't entirely sure in that case.)

Who knew shopping for groceries could get more complicated than it was already? lol

The stores around me are limiting to deals based on what's written on the rainchecks: 10 items, total.

So if it's 2/$10, you can buy 10. If it's BOGO, you can buy 5 deals, 10 items total.

    my store is doing this...

If my publix has a sale on an item B1G1, you can only use 5 B1G1 q's plus 5 money off q's making your item amount 10 plus a hefty overage. which is kind of what its always been here. (overage is because first item rings up half price)

Or if you dont have B1G1 q's you can get 20 items on a b1g1 deal. using 20 man, and 20 store q's

(if its not a b1g1 deal then its only 10 items max)

this might sound a bit weird, but its been cleared with my store manager a few times. ymmv

The only way this makes sense to me is that you actually have to pay $ for the second deal.

also I went in one day and got 66 banquet dinners. i was expecting to have to break up the trip into different transactions. But sadly I went to the 10 items or less checkout by mistake lol. I broke the register :) and the store manager came over and we started chattin. I told him I was sorry and wasn't thinking this was the 10 items or less line. He said np at all. I never had to do a separate transaction. This was a couple weeks ago.

Then again the publix I shop at, has some very big... BIG! couponers. A lot of them. I think they are lenient on us because they know if they change the policy to much 10's of thousands of dollars in sales from just a few customers could go to krogers next door :)
