Sold out, I'm too late!
EDIT: Groupon is now doing the same deal on the Tampa Tribune today (7/15)! For $19, you get a year's subscription for Thursday - Sunday Tribune! Hurry, this one probably won't last long!
Hello -
Just wanted to pass along a great deal on Groupon today for a subscription to the St. Pete Times. For $10, you get the Sunday edition for an entire year! Plus, I received an email from Groupon a few days ago that said if I purchase a Groupon through the mobile app on my smartphone, that I get $10 in Groupon Bux. So technically, I got my subscription for free!!! Woohoo!
I know for me personally this will cut down on my newspaper cost each week. Too bad it's limited to one deal per address, or I would have purchased a bunch of them so I don't have to run out every Sunday morning!
HTH someone who needs/wants a subscription.![]()

Can I just ask...is it just me not finding the St. Pete times w/Red Plums ...or does St. Pete Times not put them in their papers! I buy 2 Tampa and 2 St Pete just so I can get Red Plum in the Tampa Times! Driving me nuts!! lol
The St. Pete Times only has a certain number of inserts printed (and it can be any of the 3). They place them in their home delivery papers first (inserts are guaranteed in home delivery), then place the remaining inserts in the papers until they run out. That's why you can buy 2 papers at 1 store & not get an insert, but go across town & buy 2 papers & they have the insert.
I would suggest getting home delivery (if they deliver to your area). The inserts are guaranteed.
I just ordered 10 copies to be delivered to my mom's house (they don't deliver to me in Sarasota County) and it was $8.50 for the 10. That's cheaper than I can buy at the store (we don't have that .50 TT in St. Pete/.50 SPT in Tampa thing).

I'm in Pinellas county - I pay .75 for St Pete and $1 for Tampa...4 papers for $3.50...I usually run to Walgreens and use my register rewards to pay for them...but I'd prefer to have ALL the inserts rather than just some once in awhile! I buy Tampa b/c I always get all the inserts, but like you said...I guess I get the "left over" inserts when I buy rack for St Pete!! I'll look into the home delivery of several..that would be worth it (and I don't have to throw clothes on and run out!)...I prefer to look through the paper (inserts) in my pjs and coffee! ;-)
How did you guys order 10 copies? I thought the groupon was only one subscription per household? Let me know how to do this!! lol I'll do it!
The newspaper vendor guys (I'm not in St. Pete, so I don't know where they moved to since you now have an ordinance against it - but they're out there) sell the TT in St. Pete for .50. Someone also had said at Winn Dixie, you can get a double wrap of TT for $1 (not sure if that's current though).
The Groupon deal is dead...but you can get 10 copies home delivered just by calling the SPT. Call & see what kind of deal they can give you. If it's more than .50/ea, I'd tell them you can get the TT from the guys on street for .50, so why should you buy SPT and see if they'll give you a better rate.
I'm in Sarasota County - and I got it delivered to my mom in Manatee County. They gave me a rate of .85/ea (apparantly, they weren't supposed to offer me that rate - guess that's for the Pinellas or Tampa peeps, but I made them honor it).

It's interesting that you bring that point up.
I just had that conversation with the St Pete Times. I've noticed that I don't get Red Plum when I'm buying the Times from the street vendors or the DoublePaper deal at the Publix, but when I buy the Trib at Publix, there are always Red Plums. The Times response was that the subscribers get all the inserts, but the non-subscriber papers do/don't have inserts based on vendor requests. It seems odd that RP would request _not_ to be inserted into papers not sent to subscribers (especially since the Trib at the same store does have the RPI insert), but the pattern seems too consistent to be anything else.
They did offer me 10 Sunday papers at 10 times my current rate, but it seems that I should qualify for some sort of bulk rate if I sprung for 10 Sunday papers!! :-)
