HELP Coupon clipping newbie CRESTVIEW FLORIDA Publix questions

    Hi there!

I am VERY new to coupon clipping and am excited to get started. I noticed that there are a few clippers on here that are local to myself ( I live in Crestview FL) and I was just wondering if you could give me some tips or the low down as to how the Publix works in town.

Are they pretty good about taking coupons, is there anyone or anything that I should stay away from or any tips that will help me on my first coupon clipping journey in the next couple of weeks?

I have a few girlfriends who are also looking to get into this and I was thinking of starting up a coupon clipping group where we meet up once a week ( most likely on Sunday) with our haul and clip away at the Starbucks in town, share tips, deals, trade etc.

Thanks in advance for anything you can help me with!

    -Sara

Publix FAQ http://www.hotcouponworld.com/forums...5-11-11-a.html is the place to start.

You are in FL. Buy One, Get One is exactly that... you must buy 2 to get the deal. Coupons are accepted at face value.

Someone from FL jump in here please, as a "never shopped at a FL Publix person" shouldn't give FL Publix advice.

I'm a newbie too and I mostly hit Publix for the BOGO sales.

It's taken me a few weeks, but I'm starting to build up a coupon portfolio that's letting me start to stack a coupon for each BOGO item (2 items allows you 2 coupons, even if one is free). I started out by getting 4 papers, but we'll move up to 8 papers/week this week in order to get the number of coupons we need to get the quantities we're using. I haven't been doing this long enough to see how often these items come back up in the BOGO sales, so I'm buying enough to last a few months.

Something you'll want to do is get a list of the competitors your store accepts coupons from, so you can start using _their_ coupons on your shopping trips as well.

The most important thing to do (which you've probably figured out) is to get a system in place. The first couple of weeks I had a table full of manufacturer coupons, printable coupons, inserts, etc and it was a mess/hassle. Now that I have a binder w/dividers, it's so much easier to quickly scan HCW for the deals and pull coupons quickly as you build up your shopping list.

Hi, I'm new to the site as well and have upped my coupon usage a bit in the last few weeks but Publix is mostly welcoming. If you read over the FAQ it explains it pretty straight forward. The best deals I've found are usually a BOGO sale in addition to publix and/or manufacturer/competitor coupons. Publix DOES take competitor coupons and it seems like they released little printable flyers with the release of new coupon policy in May(?).

In my experience, the less knowledgeable cashiers try to "avoid losses" by limiting coupons when they shouldn't. I have only had difficulty w/coupons at the cashier level twice and simply request to have the order rung up at service desk instead without creating any fuss. In one case the cashier was able to suspend the order herself and I went to desk, in another he had to call for a key and the representative who came easily resolved situation there and then. One cashier asked me to place each coupon with the item it corresponded to and that took some time but on the positive side it's also kind of easier to see coupons coming off after each item instead of counting at the end and hoping amounts are right. My main worry with placing coupon by item is that it will get sucked into belt and lost.

On Tuesday I went in to take advantage of a BOGO Right Guard manufacturer coupon that was expiring so took advantage of publix 30% discount and used man. coupon along with target coupons for a $1/1 and paid maybe .90 for 3. Publix is the one store I know I can easily get most items on my list and walk away with at least a 50% savings. They make it so easy and yet the cashiers are always so surprised when amount saved is more than amount spent.

Great advice already given and I can't really add anything about your specific locale - 'cause I'm in Sarasota

You can check out our listing of stores & who they will accept as competitor's here. I did not see Crestview, but perhaps something is nearby. If there are stores you shop at IN Crestview & you find out the competitor's they accept, we can certainly add them to the list.

Reminder, Target coupons state limit 1 per transaction, and the "official" Publix policy indicates that competitor coupons will be accepted, subject to the terms printed on the coupon, so we must abide by the terms of the coupons (even if your SM approves, it cannot be discussed).
