Something stores do on occasion apparently. Managers are there to greet customers and they give away coupons for free mystery items.

Maybe OP will fill us in more.

In my area it's been at the new store openings.
They gave coupons for free Publix brand ice cream and orange juice at 2 of our grand openings.
One was a scavenger hunt. Each dept had to sign a sheet saying you visited their dept or they give you something to turn in.

When you returned the full siggy sheet or all the dept flyers - they handed you the free publix product coupon.

Sounds like fun! I've never heard of that before... maybe my stores don't do it or I've just missed it! I'll have to watch for that though!
